Aidan Hutchinson – Divine Child – Class of 2018 –> Michigan –> Detroit Lions
Coached by John Filiatraut as Divine Child, Aidan Hutchinson always had high expectations and standards, and he ended up soaring above anyone’s wildest expectations, except for his own. Being evaluated as 4-star talent, Hutchinson had an amazing High School career playing DE, TE, and OL. He posted 4 sacks, 27TFLs, and 65 tackles during his senior season at Divine Child, as well as catching 38 passes for 419 yards and 8TDs. Though I think us Lions fans know that as good as the stats are, Hutchinson has always been a relentless worker and an overall great person.
Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner – Detroit MLK – Class of 2019 –> Cincinnati –> New York Jets
Despite being named to the All-State team during his senior season and playing a big role in King’s win over Muskegon in the 2018 state championship, Ahmad Gardner was ranked just inside the Top 30 in Michigan and was a 3-star. Once he hit the field at Cincinnati, all he did was not give up a single touchdown, and this included teams such as Notre Dame and Alabama. Many analysts think Sauce Gardner could be the best player in this entire draft class, and well, I sure hope he’s in the top 2.
Bernhard Raimann – Delton Kellogsville – Class of 2017 –> Central Michigan –> Indianapolis Colts
The first-ever NFL draft pick from Kellogsville, Bernhard Raimann had his dreams come true as he’s now a Colt. Raimann is a unique player as throughout High School and up until 2020, he was primarily a TE. In High School, Raimann came in as an exchange student from Austria and dove headfirst into sports, playing Football, Wrestling, and T&F all while maintaining a 3.8 GPA. As he made his way to Central Michigan, he had a few seasons where he saw playing time, but little production as a Tight End. Then, he made the switch to OT where he absolutely dominated the competition.
Eyioma Uwazurike – Southfield-Lathrup – Class of 2016 –> Iowa State –> Denver Broncos
A highly-touted OAA player, Uwazurike was among the best in Oakland County during his high school days, but proved to work harder than nearly everybody in his class to get himself drafted into the NFL. 50 tackles, 12TFLs, and 6 sacks as a senior propelled him to the Division 1 level where he played 5 amazing seasons at Iowa State.
Sam Womack – East English Village – Class of 2016 –> Toledo –> San Francisco 49ers
Considering his High School Stats, I’m shocked that Womack had to Walk Onto Toledo. Womack was an all-state talent and posted over 1000 yards receiving with 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions all during his senior season. At Toledo, he was an amazing player who nearly made the Senior Bowl and was on the Watch List for the nation’s top DB. The 49ers could have gotten a steal here!
