Today’s piece is centered around The Great Lakes State. I decided to take a deep dive into their 2025 class, in particular, the top signal-callers to watch for during the 2022 season. Each prospect featured has already made their presence felt early in their career and could take a big step forward during their sophomore season. Here’s who you need to know!
[player_tooltip player_id="247690" first="Bryce" last="Underwood"], 6’2", 190, Belleville A blue-chip recruit with the ability to escape free rushers, keep his eyes downfield and make throws off-platform. He does a good job climbing the pocket and has plenty of wiggle to make linebackers miss in 1 on1 situations. He’s proven that he can alter his arm slot against the blitz and can fit the football into tight windows. He’s already a four-star in my book and could push for five by the time it’s all said and done. [player_tooltip player_id="247694" first="James" last="Young"], 6’1", 175, North Muskegon A pocket passer that I think is at his best in a wide-open spread attack. James ID’s coverage quickly and gets the ball out of his hand fast. He has a quick setup on the move and will square his shoulders towards his target, ensuring the utmost accuracy. [player_tooltip player_id="247646" first="Aspen" last="Keyes"], 6’2", 185, Dewitt A terrific vertical thrower who puts plenty of air under his ball so his target can run right under it. Keyes is shifty in tight quarters and can provide enough time for his targets to find open holes in zone coverage. He’s extremely dangerous outside the pocket and will pressure the line of scrimmage to put defenders in conflict. [player_tooltip player_id="247649" first="McKale" last="McDowell"], 5’10", 185, River Rouge McDowell can get it done working inside the pocket or outside on sprint out concepts. He has strong footwork, terrific timing and consistently takes what the defense gives him. On tape, he’s deadly accurate on all three levels and knows exactly when to take something off his throws. Colton Klein, 5’10", 200, Swan Valley Klein’s arm and feet are constantly in sync, leading to exceptional mechanics. Klein drives his lower half to ensure maximum velocity behind his passes and has shown that he has no issues throwing a field-side out. I think he’s someone who will develop well over the next three seasons and has already flashed a high football IQ early. [player_tooltip player_id="247643" first="Beau" last="Jackson"], 6’3", 190, Detroit Catholic Central There’s not a ton of true game tape on Jackson, but the little that I have been able to muster up, man, has he flashed. You can already see the pure arm talent you want in a college quarterback prospect. He’s proven that he can place the ball between two defenders and has enough speed & athleticism to be a factor in the QB run game.
