Throughout last season, these 2023 defensive backs proved that they can take the ball away. Their hands, instincts, and route recognition helped them secure a bevy of interceptions in 2021. Look for them to be a nightmare for quarterbacks in the state of Michigan yet again this fall.
Sam Clay, 5’8″, 165, Hartland
A smaller safety prospect that has a nose for the football. Clay reads the quarterback awfully well and easily breaks on his throws. He has a quick trigger and shows plenty of closing speed once the ball is thrown.
Kaden McDonald, 6’2″, 180, Gladwin
A poised safety prospect with outstanding range and can make something happen when he gets his hands on the football. McDonald’s hands and concentration are just outstanding. Kaden baits quarterbacks into making poor throws and is willing to fully sell out to make a play for his squad.
Carson Dabrowski Carson Dabrowski 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB John Glenn (Bay City) | 2023 MI , 6’, 175, John Glenn
A sneaky good athlete that will make you pay on poorly thrown balls. Carson is comfortable playing man rolled up in the slot and isn’t afraid to step in front of a throw when in phase. He’s quick to react to quarterback’s throws and has the body control to make acrobatic catches on tipped passes out of awkward body positions.
Yahaya Dukuly, 5’11″, 180, Davison
Dukuly can run with speedy wideouts and is a natural at leaning & locating the football. The vertical leaping ability you want in a corner is there, as is the competitiveness to fight for contested throws. If beat downfield, he will run to the receivers near hip and play through his hands. He’s patient working out of his shuffle, seeing through the number two receiver all the way to the quarterback.
Zack Pappadakis, 6’2″, 195, Davison
A free safety that is smooth working out of a backpedal and knows how to weave to stay over the top of a route. Zach plays an extremely confident brand of ball and can easily transition out of his breaks. He reads quarterbacks like a book and always seems to be in the right place for tips & overthrows.
Luke Leighton, 5’9″, 140, Lawton
An intelligent safety prospect that can make up for other people’s mistakes. Luke has sticky hands, good change of direction, and will stay over the top in zone coverage. He’s only 5’9″, but man, does he play much bigger. This kid could have a future at wide receiver as well.
