For me, there’s nothing cooler than when underclassmen show up and out shine the big dawgs. Here’s my list of the top young guns from the Legacy College Showcase:
Devvin Calhoun- Canton 2025
Entering Thursday’s showcase, the 6’2 freshman was a no-namer to about 99.9% of the coaches in attendance. That 0.1% being myself, and I already knew what the 99.9% found out real quickly… Devvin Calhoun is the real deal. The dude is slick. His footwork was very impressive, accuracy was on point, and his quick release had college scouts asking me about him the whole day. For a QB who has spent the majority of his young career under center, Calhoun proved on Thursday that he is more than capable to lead an offense out of the gun. During the 1v1s and 2v2s, Devvin seemed very comfortable making the correct reads and firing in lasers on time and accurate. With Calhoun as the potential Varsity signal caller, look for the Chiefs of Canton to move the rock through the air a little more than usual this season. I currently have Calhoun as the #6 QB in the class of 2025.
Jacob Tuttle Jacob Tuttle 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Notre Dame Prep | 2024 State MI – Notre Damn Prep 2024
Jacob Tuttle Jacob Tuttle 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Notre Dame Prep | 2024 State MI is a QB that jumped on my radar a few months ago, and has been impressive every showcase I have seen him spin at since. The zip Tuttle puts on the rock is a thing of beauty. How coachable this young man acts… it’s an offensive coordinators dream. Any quick advice or correction I gave him, the very next reps he had it fixed. During the 20 min session when the QBs were showcasing their timing and rhythm, I had numerous college coaches coming up to me asking me about Jacob. The ND Prep signal caller is already on a lot of colleges recruiting boards and with only entering his junior season this fall… expect Tuttle to be a name to be known in the class of 2024 come signing day.
Grant Hetherton Grant Hetherton 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Brighton | 2024 State MI – Brighton 2024
I’m going to say what I tell everyone when I talk about Grant Hetherton Grant Hetherton 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Brighton | 2024 State MI : If he was at any other school he would be a 3 year varsity starting QB. Grant is currently the QB in waiting behind top 2023 QB prospect, Colin McKernan Colin McKernan 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Brighton | 2023 State MI , at Brighton High School. For me, that right there is going to show a college scout one huge factor… loyalty. I will tell you what, when you see Grant at showcases and 7v7s… he does not look like your typical “QB2”. Grant is a BALLER! Grant started this winter off as the 2nd highest score in the class of 2024 at Legacy’s QB1 “The Selection”. He’s been dominating showcases all over the country and he had an incredible 7v7 winter season for Legacy. There’s on old saying: “Good things come to those who wait”. I know when the time comes for this young gun slinger, he’s going to be beyond ready.
