It has been an active few months of recruiting and the guys listed below have seen the biggest spikes with their stocks and established themselves as big time college recruited prospects.
Quarterbacks
1. Brock Glenn Brock Glenn 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Lausanne | 2023 State TN (6’2 190) – Lausanne
2. Braylen Ragland Braylen Ragland 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Bartlett | 2023 State TN (6’2 195) – Bartlett
3. Jordyn Potts Jordyn Potts 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Powell | 2023 State TN (6’0 185) – Powell
4. Coby Walton Coby Walton 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Nolensville | 2023 State TN (6’2 185) – Nolensville
5. Thomas Vaccaro Thomas Vaccaro 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB CPA | 2023 State TN (6’2 185) – CPA
– Glenn has become a household name on the recruiting trail adding offers this spring from the likes of Auburn, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan St, Missouri, Va Tech and others. This is one of the best pure pocket passers from the 2023 class and as of now, Glenn will be signing with a Power Five program; It has been a big offseason and spring season as not only has he transferred over to Bartlett from White Station but also added several strong D1 offers with Power Five programs hot on his trail. Camp season could be major for this Memphis area prospect; Potts has been busy this offseason playing 7v7 football while also taking multiple visits. He also seen an increase with his recruitment adding offers this spring from TSU and Tennessee Tech to go along with an earlier offer from EKU.
Other than Glenn and Ragland, nobody has added more offers this spring more so than Walton. This Knights signal caller has nice size along with a broad frame and shoulders that will continue adding weight on the next level. His mechanics are quite smooth as well, so you can see why he has several FCS offers; Buzz has started to build on Vaccaro and a lot of that is due to his offseason camp and 7v7 work. He has been flawless on the field this spring showing arm strength, accuracy and poise. College coaches have started to take notice.
Running Backs
1. Noah Vaughn Noah Vaughn 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Maryville | 2023 State TN (5’9 185) – Maryville
2. Juan Bullard Juan Bullard 6'1" | 205 lbs | RB East Hamilton | 2023 State TN (6’0 200) – East Hamilton
3. Arion Carter Arion Carter 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Smyrna | 2023 State TN (6’1 210) – Smyrna
4. Jai Hundley Jai Hundley 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB Oak Ridge | 2023 State TN (5’9 195) – Oak Ridge
5. Tre Hartwell Tre Hartwell 6'0" | 220 lbs | RB Independence | 2023 State TN (6’0 210) – Independence
– Vaughn has really jumped onto the recruiting scene this spring and established himself as one of the best backs in this state. The Rebels star ball carrier has added several strong offers this offseason and is in line to pick up several more this coming summer camp season; Bullard is a big dude that can pick em up and put em down. Eastern Ky became the 1st school to extend this Chattanooga area back an offer but they won’t be the last as recruiting is starting to pick up for Bullard; Another big back with college programs hot on his trail is Carter and he already holds one offer from UT-Martin; This Bulldogs back is a big guy that runs well between the tackles and has the speed to find the end zone once he hits the open field.
Hundley is one of the hottest names at the moment from this 2023 running back crop and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pick up some big D1 offers here in the near future. He already holds an offer from Army with several others in hot pursuit, including Wake Forest and a few other P5, D1 schools; Hartwell already held a few offers headed into spring, including one from Tulane but the biggest reason for his rise is his improvement with his speed and pass catching out of the backfield. This is a big dude that can, block and catch, so he brings a lot of value to a college offense.
Receivers/Tight Ends
1. Justin Brown Justin Brown 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Blackman | 2023 State TN (6’1 185) – Blackman
2. London Humphreys London Humphreys 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR CPA | 2023 State TN (6’2 185) – CPA
3. Demitrius Bell Demitrius Bell 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR McGavock | 2023 State TN (6’1 170) – Blackman
4. Ben Marshall Ben Marshall 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Blackman | 2023 State TN (6’5 225) – Blackman
5. Adjatay Dabbs Adjatay Dabbs 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Greeneville | 2023 State TN (6’2 175) – Greeneville
– The Blackman trio have done nothing but explode onto the recruiting scene this offseason and headed into the summer camp season, I expect all three of these guys to continue racking up the college options. Brown is a polished route runner that sports great hands and a beautiful looking offer sheet. Out of all the top schools who have offered, Brown could have his eyes on the likes of Miss. State, Penn St., Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Tennessee & Va Tech; Bell isn’t far behind his Blaze teammate with offers and he is closely catching up. This speedster with big time athleticism has been one of the spring’s biggest risers as Bell has picked up offers from the likes of Boston College, LSU, Memphis, Ole Miss, Pitt, Vanderbilt and others. This guy has been on such a big rise this spring that Bell could develop into a national 4-star recruit before it’s all said and done; Marshall is one of the best tight end prospects from the Southern Region and he is still ways off from being a finished product. Lining out wide or playing with his hand in the dirt, Marshall is a versatile pass catcher that is sorting through offers like California, Indiana, Memphis, NC State, Pitt, Vanderbilt and others.
Much like Bell above, Humphreys has had a breakout spring offseason thus far, establishing himself as one of the best receiver prospects in the state and a guy that is starting to pick up steam with Power Five recruiting. This Lions wideout is one of the fastest receivers we have from the in-state 2023 class and big time programs are starting to notice. Just recently, Humphreys added an SEC offer from Vanderbilt and took an unofficial visit to Alabama. Watch out for this guy going forward as he is on the peak of becoming a breakout star; Dabbs is a lightly known wideout from East Tennessee that has broken on the scene this spring with multiple offers, including a couple from the D1 ranks. This guy can fly and he has the size to compete on the Division 1 level, so expect many others to get involved soon.
Offensive Line
1. Joe Crocker Joe Crocker 6'6" | 310 lbs | OL FRA | 2023 State TN (6’6 305) – FRA
2. Brandon Solis Brandon Solis 6'8" | 275 lbs | OL Lipscomb Acad. | 2023 State TN (6’8 260) – Lipscomb Acad.
3. Cal Grubbs Cal Grubbs 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Maryville | 2023 State TN (6’4 285) – Maryville
4. Caleb Dorris Caleb Dorris 6'6" | 265 lbs | OL Ensworth | 2023 State TN (6’6 265) – Ensworth
5. George Steih George Steih 6'5" | 265 lbs | OL Franklin-Grace | 2023 State TN (6’5 265) – Franklin-Grace
– A massive young man who embraces physical contact, Crocker has improved his body and skill set and in turn has seen a spike with his recruitment. This spring has been quite active for Crocker as he has taken several unofficial visits to offered schools like Arkansas, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan St. and others while also adding new offers recently from Maryland, Purdue and Wisconsin. Crocker may be a guy that makes a commitment soon, so keep an eye on this guy; Solis is a big, long and athletic tackle prospect that screams college potential. He looks the part of a college tackle and the great thing about him is that he is far from a finished product. This is a Power Five talent who holds current offers from the likes of Indiana, Maryland, Miss. State, Missouri, Vanderbilt and others; One of the best centers in the country is Grubbs and his offer sheet is starting to show exactly that. It has been an off and on recruitment for Grubbs as he has gone through several spikes of offers with his latest being a big one from Duke. The Blue Devils join other top programs like Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Ole Miss, USF and Virginia in offering this East Tennessee product.
These final two offensive linemen to talk about here are up and coming tackle prospects that both have as much upside as any prospect from the current in-state 2023 O-line class. Dorris is a big, mobile and athletic guy with a great frame to take on added size along with having the feet to handle pass rushers on the college level. His stock broke wide open this spring as Dorris has added several strong offers with a few of them coming from the D1 ranks in Arkansas St., Army and Troy. Look for bigger schools to get involved with Dorris soon, especially after the upcoming summer camp season; Steih recently took himself off the recruiting board when he gave his commitment to Wake Forest and solidified himself as a Power Five prospect. This guy has been one of the biggest risers from the spring recruiting period and a prospect with tons of upside and potential for the next level. It would not be surprising to see other Power Five schools look to get involved with Steih before he signs with the Demon Deacons.
