OK Prospect Tour – Potential Breakout Stars

Enjoy!</strong></em> On Saturday at Titan Sports Complex in Jenks, the 3rd Prep Redzone Oklahoma Showcase will take place as the Prep Redzone “Prospect Tour” rolls through Oklahoma. Several colleges will be on hand scouting some of the best talent in Oklahoma and even some of the surrounding states. We’ll have plenty of coverage of the event during the camp and following the camp but before things get kicked off, we want to take a look at some of the names that you need to know about coming into Saturday. These five prospects might not be household names yet but we have a feeling that they’re on the verge of being breakout stars. And they’ll be competing with us on Saturday. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="294445" first="Cash" last="Jacobsen"] - 2025 Defensive Lineman - Jenks</strong> One of the biggest strengths that Jenks had as they made a run to their second straight state title was their defensive line. And they have to replace two big pieces in [player_tooltip player_id="38697" first="AJ" last="Brown"] and [player_tooltip player_id="61129" first="Colemon" last="Thurber"]. We think that 2025 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="294445" first="Cash" last="Jacobsen"] could be that next guy along the defensive front for the Trojans. We checked out what he was able to do at the non-varsity level and it was pretty impressive. He already looks the part physically, and the Trojans will need some new guys to step up. This will be our first chance to see Jacobsen in person and we cannot wait to see how he does during the 1 on 1 competition. The only problem is we have to wait until the end of the camp to see it. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="206345" first="Conner" last="Quintero"] - 2026 Quarterback - Enid</strong> This is a camp for 2023-2025 prospects but there are exceptions for everything. And one exception here is that Enid 2026 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="206345" first="Conner" last="Quintero"] has been on our radar for over a year now and he could be the next impact quarterback as a freshman this fall. Quintero was one of the top young quarterbacks that we saw this offseason while playing with Sooner 7 in 7v7 tournaments. In a camp setting in an absolutely loaded position group, it’ll be interesting to see how the young QB stacks up against some of the best players at the QB position in Oklahoma. Don’t be surprised if Quintero ends up getting on the field for Enid earlier than most would expect. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="299735" first="Kooper" last="Rich"] - 2024 Tight End - Ponca City</strong> A little under a month after we updated the 2024 rankings, we saw the film of tight end [player_tooltip player_id="299735" first="Kooper" last="Rich"], who was playing 8-man ball during the last two seasons. Immediately, we wished we could have a ranking redo because Rich appeared to be a top ten prospect when we watched the film. He’s transferred to Ponca City and will be participating in our camp on Saturday. Physically, Rich will be one of the biggest campers at the wide receiver position as he’s more of a tight end. We’re interested to see just how quick some of his times and then of course how he does in the 1 on 1 portion of the camp. He’s going to have the size advantage against everybody he goes against. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="310982" first="Thomas" last="Gothard"] - 2023 Defensive Back - Union</strong> Another prospect that we’ve seen this offseason and doing very well while playing 7v7 was Union defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="310982" first="Thomas" last="Gothard"]. You just look at the 2023 prospect and he certainly looks the part physically. He did a great job during the various tournaments that we saw playing man coverage and could run with just about anybody. Gothard is signed up to compete with the defensive back group and we finally have a decent number of DB’s this time around. We’re looking forward to seeing how Gothard tests out when it comes to his speed and quickness. Then it’ll be time to see how many wide receivers he can lock down during the 1 on 1 portion of the event. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="291011" first="Will" last="Smith"] - 2024 Defensive Lineman - Choctaw</strong> Our final prospect is yet another one that we cannot wait to see in person. Choctaw 2024 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="291011" first="Will" last="Smith"] first got on our radar by his play on the basketball floor. His raw athleticism and size reminded us of former Midwest City and current OU defensive lineman Jalen Redmond. Smith wasn’t an impact player as a sophomore because most eyes went to OSU signee [player_tooltip player_id="61127" first="Desean" last="Brown"]. It might be a little early, but we think that Smith could fit into that Brown role of causing chaos as a defensive end. But this is what this post is all about. These prospects aren’t stars yet but it won’t be surprising if Smith dominates the camp on Saturday and has a big season this fall.
