Carolina XPosure Showcase Charlotte – Ed’s Offensive Standouts

Several talented players from North and South Carolina traveled to Cox Mill HS, Concord, NC to participate in the showcase.  There were several outstanding individual performances on display throughout the event.  The players participated in agility drills, one-on-one drills, and 7on7 competition.  The listed players caught my attention while covering the showcase.  There is definitely no shortage of talent in the Carolinas. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="327280" first="Saxon" last="Jenkins"], WR, 6’1" 170, Cox Mill HS</strong>.  He ran good pass routes and separation from defender to make catches.  Saxon displayed good hands on the catches made in traffic.  He displayed a burst of speed to run past the defender and make the without breaking stride during a one-on-one drill.  He displayed good agility and quickness in his movements while participating in the drills.  The talented 2024 prospect is expected to make an impact during the upcoming season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="327286" first="Gavin" last="Barber"], TE, 6’2" 210, Cox Mill HS</strong>.  He ran good pass routes and used his body to shield defenders to make the catches during the one-on-one drills.  Gavin displayed mobility and good agility while participating in the drills during the testing phase of the event.  He displayed good hands on the catches made in traffic.  [player_tooltip player_id="327286" first="Gavin" last="Barber"] is expected to be one of the primary targets for the offensive unit during the upcoming season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="327289" first="Jered" last="Street"], QB, 5’6" 130, West Cabarrus HS</strong>.  The talented young quarterback throws an accurate pass with a good throwing action while participating in the one-on-one drills.  He already displays the skillset of an experienced high school quarterback.  He displayed good agility and quickness as he participated in the drills. The 2026 prospect will continue to improve his skillset as he prepares for high school competition in the Fall. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="327284" first="Miles" last="Funderburk"], OL, 6’0" 270, Providence Day HS</strong>.  He displayed good mobility and agility while participating in the drills during the testing phase of the event.  Miles moves quickly out of his stance and displayed good technique to control defenders during the one-on-one drills.  He moved with quickness and power while participating in the drills throughout the event.  The 2026 prospect is expected to make an impact as he begins his high school career in the Fall. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="119009" first="Riley" last="Staton"], QB, 6’4" 180, Gray Collegiate Academy, South Carolina</strong>.  He displayed accuracy and arm strength on precision passes that were delivered on target.  Riley is a mobile quarterback with a fluid throwing motion.  He displayed the ability to deliver short and medium range passes on target while in the pocket and while moving.  He displayed good footwork and agility while participating in the drills throughout the event.  The 2024 prospect is expected to put up big numbers as he continues to prepare for the upcoming season. <strong>JT Smith Jr., RB, 5’11" 195, Hough HS</strong>.  He displayed very good quickness and agility in his movements while participating in the drills throughout the event.  JT cuts and change of direction were quick and fluid while participating in the running back drills.  He made the initial defender miss while participating in the 7on7 competition.  JT Smith Jr. continues to fine tune his skillset as he prepares for his senior season with big expectations. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="327282" first="Braylon" last="Canales"], OL, 6’3" 290, James Robinson HS</strong>.  He is a large frame offensive lineman who displayed good mobility while participating in the drills throughout the event.  He displayed good footwork and strength to control defenders during the one-on-one drills.  Braylon moved well in tight spaces and is expected to anchor the offensive line during the upcoming season.
