The Gauntlet TCA Preview: Linemen Showcase

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Gauntlet is Maryland’s premier invite only OL/DL Showcase. The Gauntlet gives coaches, scouts, and players a look at how they match up 1on1 against the best Linemen in the entire state in lineman specific drills and competitions. Some familiar names to come through this event are #1 recruit in the class of 2022 and Penn State commit [player_tooltip player_id="90498" first="Dani" last="Dennis-Sutton"], University of Maryland commit [player_tooltip player_id="90503" first="Daniel" last="Owens"], Boston College Commit [player_tooltip player_id="90505" first="Kwan" last="Williams"], and [player_tooltip player_id="254821" first="Ayo" last="Tifase"] who currently has power-5 offers from Uconn, The University of Missouri, the University of Arkansas and a D1 from Liberty University. This year the Gauntlet is on April 30th at The Arena Sports Factory, 2302 Churchville Rd, Bel Air, MD 21015.</p> <p>Today we will take a look at the top prospects attending The Gauntlet 2023 as well as the invitees up to this point in the offseason...</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="90652" first="Mason" last="Robinson"]</strong></p> <p>Robinson is currently the #6 DL prospect in MD and overall #8 prospect in the state. He holds power 5 offers across the board from schools such as Tennesse, Oregon, Michigan, Miami, and Oklahoma. Mason is a relentless long strider; he covers ground very fast and has a high motor allowing him to make plays sideline to sideline. A It will be great to see how he performs against the other top linemen in the state. Custis caught my eye very early in the season during a scrimmage against now MIAA-B Champ, Concordia Prep where he recorded 5 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, and 1 fumble recovery. take a look at some clips from that scrimmage here: <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2021/08/preseason-preview-the-gilman-school/">Preseason Preview: The Gilman School - Prep Redzone</a>. Custis went on to earn 1st team All-MIAA A Conference honors as a DE. He does a great job at avoiding chop blocks using his hands and has a knack for creating turnover opportunities. Custis is listed as a DE but he has the size to play in the interior line also. So far Tamarus holds 13 offers from schools such as Maryland, Liberty University, and Boston College. His recruiting is expected to heat up as the offseason progresses. He stands at 6’4 295lbs, but he’s only 16 so he may grow a few inches over the next year. 6’6 would put a shiny polish on this already talented prospect when given the eye test. Walker dominated opponents this past season, this showcase will put him up against athletes more his caliber all in one place.</p> <p>https://twitter.com/TamarusW56/status/1465864106821435393?s=20&amp;t=N1RGX54gkKC9CY8CMKGI-w</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="249993" first="Emmett" last="Laws"]</strong></p> <p>Laws is currently ranked as the #3 defensive linemen and the #11 player overall in the class of 2023. He already holds offers from Penn State and Toledo. He’s explosive on contact and plays violent. The future looks promising for this young 2024 prospect. With an offer like PSU, knowing their history on defensive side of the ball, I’m sure other programs are taking notice. Laws was named to the All-WCAC 2nd Team in 2021, nothing less is expected in 2022 as he’s still developing as a player. He’s already a great size for a stand-up DE/OLB prospect at 6’3.5 225lbs. Currently holding huge offers from schools such at Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. Willor is a physical specimen and one heck of an athlete, during the offseason he plays basketball for St.Paul’s.
