It was a sunny, but chilly day last Sunday in Obetz, Ohio. As the sun started to rise football players from a multistate radius started to converge on "The Fortress". There were players of all kinds of different sizes and skillsets, but if you were there you can ball. So that goes without saying. There were a lot of players, so the reps were not easy to come by. In this article I’ll touch on some players that stood out to me on the day. [caption id="attachment_311530" align="alignleft" width="119"] Dalin Wilkins[/caption] Northmont High School’s, [player_tooltip player_id="284440" first="Nigel" last="Glover"] (2023) and Dalin Wilkins (2024) were standouts at their positions of LB and TE. Glover is the linebacker of today and the future. He’s explosive in coming downhill to attack the run and he has the flip hips to turn and run with wide receivers and tight ends. Watching him compete it’s easy to see why he has offers from all Power 5 conferences. Wilkins is a well put together tight end who runs smooth routes and is a natural pass catcher. [caption id="attachment_311525" align="alignright" width="129"] Jordan Hall[/caption] Kipp Columbus Offensive Tackle Jordan Hall is a mountain of a young man. Standing at 6’8 325, he displayed the athleticism to be a Power 5 player. What makes him even more exciting as a prospect is that he only really has a portion of a season of varsity playing experience. Up to this point he’s focused mostly on Basketball and AAU. I like Hall has a D1 High Midmajor to Low Power 5 depending on how he shows in camps this offseason and how he continues to develop. Winton Woods DB’s, [player_tooltip player_id="274818" first="Jermaine" last="Mathews"] and [player_tooltip player_id="274819" first="Cameron" last="Calhoun"], both had days and proved why they’ve piled up Power 5 offers. making plays and proving and showing the dawg that you need to be elite at their position. Showing their length and athleticism both made great plays on the ball during the event. [caption id="attachment_311561" align="alignright" width="147"] Brian Robinson[/caption] Austintown Fitch’s Brian Robinson, at 6’4 215 pounds, looks and moves the part. He definitely has the high end flexibility and twitch to come off the edge. He likes to hit offensive linemen with the bull rush and then dip inside on them. Wheat I like to see Robinson work on more is winning the edge with his speed and burst. As Robinson continues to get stronger and develop his pass rushing techniques he’s on pace to become a big time player. So it should come as no surprise that within the last week he’s landed offers from Kentucky, Pitt, and Michigan. [caption id="attachment_309766" align="alignleft" width="134"] [player_tooltip player_id="284600" first="Landon" last="O’Connell"][/caption]Quarterbacks [player_tooltip player_id="284600" first="Landon" last="O’Connell"] and [player_tooltip player_id="284902" first="Ryan" last="Montgomery"] I thought both had the best days of the quarterbacks. O’Connell is ranked by us as one of our top QB’s in our 2024 class. For his age he is every bit of 6’4 200 pounds. He does a great job with his footwork and he has easy arm strength. Physically it’s all there for Landon as he continues to get more reps at the varsity level and becomes more confident and decisive with where he’s going with the ball it’s all going to come together for him from a recruiting standpoint. Montgomery is already one of the most sought after 2025 quarterbacks in the country. He has offers from the likes of Georgia Tech, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. He’s 6’3 and approaching 200 pounds. He’s confident in his ability and not afraid to take the reigns in spite of just being a freshman. Athletically he’s a gifted thrower and athlete. I would think that having the kind of offers that he does and at his age could bring some attitude or behavior that could be unbecoming, but not with Ryan. So why many want to talk about his obvious physical gifts, it’s his intangibles that capture me the most. He’s the guy that you want in your huddle leading your young men. [caption id="attachment_309770" align="alignright" width="144"] [player_tooltip player_id="284902" first="Ryan" last="Montgomery"][/caption]Olentangy DT [player_tooltip player_id="284549" first="Angelo" last="McCullom"] had a day as well. He overpowered and overwhelmed the offensive linemen tasked with blocking him. His blend of size and strength to speed transition is destructive to opposing offenses. While he doesn’t yet have any P5 offers, trust me, they’re coming. Lakota East OG [player_tooltip player_id="287990" first="Austin" last="Siereveld"] of the 2023 class may be the highest rated evaluation I’ve ever done at his position. His ceiling is simply through the roof. He has great fee and is simply immovable at the point of attack. He’s stellar in pass pro, and a mauler in the run game. I picked him out at the Ohio State camp last year with no interest and no offers and less than a year later he has offers from Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State among many other major P5’s. I could go further, but it’s not fair to place those expectations on him now, but to say the least I’m very excited to see where he goes and how he develops at the D1 Power 5 level. [caption id="attachment_311533" align="alignleft" width="153"] [player_tooltip player_id="284945" first="Jake" last="Cook"][/caption]Westerville North interior offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="284945" first="Jake" last="Cook"] was one of the other younger players at this event. As a 2025 he held his own against the top DL the even had to offer on the day. Jake has the size, strength and technique already to project to the Power 5 level. He in pass pro he stalemated his opponents in his one on ones. Whether they tried to use a bull rush or their quickness it didn’t matter. Cook will soon be a sought after P5 offensive lineman. It was my first chance to meet the twin towers of Saint Ed’s, Devontae and [player_tooltip player_id="284583" first="Deontae" last="Armstrong"]. When you watch them move, it’s easy to fall in love with their bend and their athleticism. At this point they are very lean, which isn’t a bad thing. It’s preferrable to put good weight on a lean body than try to take bad weight off a sloppy one. In talking to them they are very focused on adding weight and strength. Playing in a program like Saint Ed’s they’re going to have a lot of good coaching and resources to be developed. Big [player_tooltip player_id="228493" first="Ben" last="Roebuck"] who I’ve wrote about many times was on hand and very impressive on the day as well. [caption id="attachment_311531" align="alignleft" width="154"] Deontae[/caption] [caption id="attachment_311532" align="alignleft" width="141"] Devontae[/caption]
