We round off the Class of 2023 position groups with the ATH’s. This particular group of players can’t be distinguished by one position because they may be used in many different positions in a given game depending on the schemes. Many of them have different attributes that make them scary athletes on the field. They may be used in many different ways on both sides of the ball to keep the opponents on their toes for a whole game.

Lindeman really emerged as versatile player for the Cardinals’ Championship Season. When he played at TE, he took a lot of pride in his run-blocking, which really sparked their run-game against each opponent. He sold his blocks well before he would release on his routes and was a very reliable target in the pass-game. He would also be put in the backfield and take handoffs and be a power-runner and rip off the big chunks of yards needed to keep the offense in motion. Defensively, he was a great pass-rusher off the end and put a lot of pressure on the QB, sacking him a lot and really taking momentum away from the opponent. He also kept his position to contain and shed his blocks to make plays on ballcarrier.

[player_tooltip player_id="206738" first="Ethan" last="Hoffman"] (RB/DB)- Flandreau
Hoffman emerged as one of the big playmakers on the team this season. He was used in many different ways on offense, positioned at RB he could also split out wide and be used in trickery in the backfield. He has great speed to get to the perimeter in a hurry, also the vision and agility to extend a play, and lastly the power to earn every last yard in a play. He could also throw a good ball with accuracy when he threw the ball on the trick plays. Defensively, he sat back in coverage well, and made plays on deep passes. He attacked the football on tackles and created turnovers to get the defense off the field. He was also big on special teams returning kicks and punts.

[player_tooltip player_id="223095" first="Tyson" last="Brandt"] (RB/WR/DB)- Brookings
Brandt is a speedster, but also a bulldog on the field. Offensively, when he takes pitches or handoffs, he is patient to let blocks develop and hit the gaps hard to explode for the big play. His speed and vision helped create the big plays, his power sprung them for even bigger plays. When split out wide, he was more of a possession WR, running good routes and becoming a good target for the QB to extend drives. He wasn’t a flashy runner, stuck his foot in the ground and ran straight ahead for long runs. Defensively, he played well in the flats on both pass and run-support. He could run with the quick receivers, but also body-up the big ones and knock passes away. He was also a pretty physical tackler, wrestling down the ballcarrier in the open field.

[player_tooltip player_id="276829" first="Andrew" last="Brennan"] (WR/DB)- Aberdeen Roncalli
Brennan seemed to be a wildcard on both sides of the ball. When the Cavs needed a momentum shift in the game, Brennan seemed to be the guy to swing it back in their favor. In their run heavy formations, play-action was Brennan’s best friend because he could slip past the defense and make a big play in the pass game. He also received some jet sweeps and showed his speed and agility in the perimeter runs. Defensively, he did well in pass coverage, sitting back over top of the WR’s routes and keeping good position to make a play on the ball. His vertical was the difference maker in his playmaking ability, once he got his position to make a play.

[player_tooltip player_id="160910" first="Jackson" last="Isakson"] (QB/DB/K)- Aberdeen Roncalli
I couldn’t leave Isakson off this list, he performs too well in all facets of the game. He has great accuracy and arm strength in the pass game and can hit a variety of routes and lead the WR’s without them breaking stride. He was also a strong runner coming out of the backfield, using enough power to battle his way through on the goal line, and enough speed to break off a big play anywhere on the field. Defensively, He ran well with WR’s and kept them in check the whole game. He positioned himself well to make plays on the ball. He was a good tackler, using his size to his advantage. His kicking is what puts him over the top on this list. He has been inviting to some big camps with his strong leg and can hit long FG’s with accuracy. His punts can flip field position as well, lots of distance and hang-time.
