Watson was a huge part of Chelsea winning a state championship this past season. He can fire into defenders with tremendous strength and leverage. His technique is picture perfect, you can tell he is being well coached by the staff at Chelsea. Watson’s powerful upper body allowed him to force several fumbles last season. I’m excited to see what Watson does in 2022. I look forward to another productive season with many highlight plays.
Regan Plank | LB | 2024 | Hudl
Plank stepped up in big games this past year for Chelsea. He recored a big time sack in the Regional Final win over Detroit Country Day. In that game he also had a huge tackle on kickoff that pinned Country Day inside the 10 yard line. Plank shoots gaps aggressively and is never shy to meet opposing ball carriers in the hole. He does a good job of wrapping up on tackles so that ball carriers cannot escape. Regan Plank only enters his Junior Season in 2022 and will likely be one of the key leaders on the defensive side of the football.
Jason Skoczylas | DB | 2023 | Hudl
Skoczylas may have made the biggest play of the year for Chelsea in the playoffs this past season. Late in the game against Country Day, he blocked a field goal that was returned for a touchdown with little time remaining in the game. This gave them the lead and eventually ended up being the winning play that got them to the state semi-finals. Skoczylas shows great toughness and hard-hitting ability at the safety position. He loves to make receivers pay for running into his area. Skoczylas has great athleticism to jump up and make plays on the football. He can also fly down on kickoffs and make big time tackles. His play on defense and special teams will be critical for Chelsea in 2022.
Seth Anstead | OL | 2024 | Hudl
Anstead has ideal size for a high school offensive tackle at 6-4. He is a good athlete who can move laterally very well on run plays. He does a great job of getting his hands inside of defenders and then driving with all his strength to move people out of the play. Anstead plays with an edge and always finishes blocks until the whistle is blown. Chelsea will have a new starting quarterback next season and having an offensive tackle with a lot of playing experience to protect him will be critical.
Thomas Shemwell | RB | 2024 | Hudl
Shemwell has good cutting ability and can use jump cuts effectively to make defenders miss. He runs the ball with a sense of urgency always looking to fight for extra yards. Shemwell is not afraid to lower the shoulder on defenders either. He has good balance and shows the ability to stay on his feet after lowering the shoulder. Shemwell is a great punt returner who can break long runs and set his team up in good field position. Shemwell played both JV & Varsity last season and has his sights set on getting more carries on the varsity in 2022. His skill set has him prepared well to continue breaking big gains on Friday nights.
