Cardinal Gibbons v. Rolesville Offensive Highlights

I was on the sidelines for the Eastern Regional Championship Game between Cardinal Gibbons HS and Rolesville HS.  I observed Cardinal Gibbons high-powered offense control the game with the ground attack for the majority of the game.  The players’ listed performances were outstanding throughout the game. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="117098" first="Connor" last="Clark"], QB, 6’6" 220, Cardinal Gibbons HS</strong>.  Connor displayed calmness and leadership while directing the offensive unit.  He has a quick release on his throwing motion.  Connor displayed good arm strength on the short-range throws.  The passes were delivered on target with accuracy in the pocket and on the run.  He tucked it and ran when needed to gain yardage.  [player_tooltip player_id="117098" first="Connor" last="Clark"] spent the majority of the time handing the ball off to the running backs. <strong>Donovan Shepard, RB, 5’9" 165, Cardinal Gibbons HS</strong>.  Donovan displayed patience while following blockers to gain tough yardage while running inside.  Donovan displayed the speed to get outside and accelerate past defenders to gain yardage.  He plays at a high-energy level throughout the game.  Donovan Shepard had 23 carries for 183 yards, gaining tough yardage while running inside. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="144696" first="Blake" last="Raphael"], RB, 6’0" 195, Cardinal Gibbons HS</strong>.  Blake displayed good hands on the pass play for the reception in the end zone for a score.  He showed patience while following blockers and accelerating in openings to gain yardage.  [player_tooltip player_id="144696" first="Blake" last="Raphael"] had 7 carries for 32 yards and 1 TD. <strong>Thomas Garofolo, T, 6’3" 210, Cardinal Gibbons HS</strong>.  Thomas displayed good footwork and technique while controlling defenders.  He displayed quickness out of his stance to make contact with defenders while opening lanes for the running backs.  The offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game. <strong>Watt Brown, T, 6’4" 245, Cardinal Gibbons HS</strong>.  Watt displayed good footwork and technique while controlling defenders.  He displayed quickness out of his stance and used leverage against defenders while opening lanes for the running backs.  The offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game. <strong>Joshua Stoneking, DT, 6’3" 227, Cardinal Gibbons HS</strong>.  Joshua was brought in on red zone plays and followed blockers to gain tough inside yardage.  Joshua Stoneking had 8 carries for 32 yards and 1 TD. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="142223" first="Ryan" last="Ziegler"], FB, 6’0" 215, Cardinal Gibbons HS</strong>.  Ryan was brought in on red zone plays and followed blockers to gain tough inside yardage.  [player_tooltip player_id="142223" first="Ryan" last="Ziegler"] had 6 carries for 24 yards and 1 TD. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"], QB, 6’4" 185, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Byrum displayed leadership and calmness in the pocket while directing the high-powered offensive unit.  He delivered a few accurate short - range to long-ball passes on target to the wide receivers throughout the game.  Byrum tucked it and ran when needed to gain yardage and is an elusive runner in the open field. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="126936" first="Noah" last="Rogers"], WR, 6’2" 182, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Noah ran crisp pass routes and good separation from defenders to make the catches.  He displayed good hands on the catches in traffic.  [player_tooltip player_id="126936" first="Noah" last="Rogers"] made a highlight reel one-handed catch beside a defender in the end zone for a score. <strong>Camden Rog, WR, 6’4" 185, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Camden ran good pass routes and separation from defenders to make the catches.  He displayed good hands on the catches in traffic.  Camden Rog did a good job at using his body to shield defenders on catches throughout the game. <strong>Davon Dunn, RB, 6’0" 180, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Davon displayed patience as he followed blockers to gain yardage.  He displayed speed to accelerate into openings to gain additional yardage.  Davon Dunn does not go down after initial contact has been made. <strong>Antonio Crim Jr., RB, 6’0" 190, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Antonio followed his blockers looking for an opening to accelerate past defenders for additional yardage.  Antonio Crim used his speed and quickness to get around the corner on plays and power and balance while running inside. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="97528" first="Jesiah" last="Henderson"], T, 6’5" 305, Rolesville HS</strong>.  Jesiah displayed good footwork and technique to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs.  He used his size and strength to control defenders in the trenches throughout the game.  [player_tooltip player_id="97528" first="Jesiah" last="Henderson"] is a big, agile offensive tackle who plays with maximum effort on every play.
