In week nine, Holland Hall senior [player_tooltip player_id="61135" first="Ethan" last="Roush"] had to move to quarterback when [player_tooltip player_id="110743" first="Kordell" last="Gouldsby"] went down with a season-ending injury. Five weeks later, Roush led the Dutch to a second consecutive state championship. Holland Hall had several players really shine in their second straight win over Lincoln Christian in the championship game. But Roush carried the load on both sides of the ball. On offense, Roush was 8-11 for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also ran for 86 yards on 13 carries and even caught a short touchdown pass on a trick play near the goal line. On defense, Roush led the team in tackles along with [player_tooltip player_id="38787" first="Parker" last="Jenney"] with ten on the afternoon and had the game-clinching interception with 11 seconds left to stop the Lincoln Christian rally.

Roush would really have to step up on the offensive side of the ball in the second half when Holland Hall’s star running back and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="38774" first="Zane" last="Woodham"] would go down with an ankle injury. That’s when Roush took the majority of the carries down the stretch and also played on defense.

When it comes to the MVP of the game, Roush is one of several good candidates for Holland Hall and we could have gone a few different ways with it. [player_tooltip player_id="61125" first="NuNu" last="Campbell"] was exceptional on the defensive side of the ball and helped shut down the Lincoln Christian passing attack. Not to mention he threw and caught a touchdown pass. You also have [player_tooltip player_id="38774" first="Zane" last="Woodham"], who was well on his way to having a monster game until he got hurt and missed just about all of the second half. And [player_tooltip player_id="38787" first="Parker" last="Jenney"] was arguably the most dominant players on the front seven for either team. But Roush could not be denied. It was an outstanding game for several of these Holland Hall seniors but it’s Roush who was the Most Valuable Player.
