Huntley’s regular season record: 52-15 Huntley’s playoff record: 4-3 LA CITY SECTION Division 1 Canoga Park vs. Arleta Analysis: This is a fun matchup between two of the top running backs in the LA City Section. Kayden Collins of Canoga Park has rushed for 1,777 yards and 21 touchdowns which is the second most rushing yards in the section. Kelvin Duran of Arleta has rushed for 2,114 yards and 31 touchdowns which are both the most in the City Section. Canoga Park has two excellent defensive players in Anthony Villalobos and Marqus Reece are outstanding defensive players for Canoga Park. I think Villalobos can rack up big tackle numbers against Duran. The pick: Canoga Park https://twitter.com/CanogaFootball/status/1458459044331474950?s=20
SAN DIEGO SECTION Open Division Torrey Pines vs. Carlsbad Analysis: These two played the best game of the year in San Diego and one of the best games of the year in the country earlier this season. Carlsbad won that game 34-33 on the last play of the game. [player_tooltip player_id="115456" first="Julian" last="Sayin"] threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns for the Lancers. Anthony Ferrelli ran for 115 yards and Matt Moore had an 80-yard touchdown run. Josh Davis had 112 yards receiving and a touchdown and Barrett Brennan had a 66-yard touchdown catch. Easton Clements ran for 145 yards and a touchdown for Torrey Pines. Wyatt Gardner is an outstanding two-way player for Torrey Pines and [player_tooltip player_id="186969" first="Jagger" last="Filippone"] is a good defensive lineman. And of course [player_tooltip player_id="141881" first="Zach" last="Rowell"] is one of the top defensive players in San Diego. The pick: Carlsbad https://twitter.com/Cbad_Football/status/1456702458160320512?s=20 Division 1 Eastlake vs. Lincoln Analysis: This is a matchup of a team of really solid high school players against a team full of elite prospects. Eastlake is a solid team who does everything pretty well. Johnny Limon is an up and coming sophomore quarterback who is learning on the job and can be a future star. [player_tooltip player_id="141962" first="Jordan" last="Blondin"] is a quality receiver who can match up with the elite Lincoln defensive backs. Those defensive backs are Oregon commits [player_tooltip player_id="25238" first="Jalil" last="Tucker"] and [player_tooltip player_id="141879" first="Jahlil" last="Florence"]. [player_tooltip player_id="25424" first="David" last="Peevy"] is a good linebacker for the Hornets and [player_tooltip player_id="186990" first="Kendall" last="Williams"] is a good defensive lineman. [player_tooltip player_id="42800" first="Jalen" last="Daniels"] is a polished quarterback for Lincoln and [player_tooltip player_id="145173" first="Roderick" last="Robinson II"] is an elite running back. [player_tooltip player_id="141920" first="Treyton" last="White"] is a great defensive player for Eastlake, but his defense may be overmatched here. The pick: Lincoln https://twitter.com/THEHIVEFB/status/1456847307647897600?s=20
SOUTHERN SECTION Division 1 Santa Margarita vs. Servite Analysis: This is the only matchup between two private schools in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs. Servite won the previous matchup 48-21. [player_tooltip player_id="187307" first="Houston" last="Thomas"] rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns for the Friars in that game. [player_tooltip player_id="25286" first="Noah" last="Fifita"] threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns but also had two interceptions. They got the ball to Wesley Taylor on short routes and let him run in that game and of course [player_tooltip player_id="25227" first="Tetairoa" last="McMillan"] made some big plays. [player_tooltip player_id="25428" first="Jaxon" last="Potter"] made some mistakes in that game but is coming off a big game against Orange Lutheran two weeks ago. I don’t think we will see them matchup often but I would love to see [player_tooltip player_id="141878" first="Hero" last="Kanu"] play against Servite offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="141891" first="Mason" last="Graham"] (Michigan). Servite is coming off back-to-back losses to Mater Dei and St. John Bosco but is healthier coming off the bye week. This game will be closer than the first meeting. I will be covering this game for the Orange County Register. The pick: Servite https://twitter.com/prepzone/status/1458557044835815426?s=20 Los Alamitos vs. St. John Bosco Analysis: These are the top two teams in the Long Beach area and this game is loaded with star power. Los Alamitos is led by its three Oklahoma commits [player_tooltip player_id="25419" first="Malachi" last="Nelson"], [player_tooltip player_id="25398" first="Makai" last="Lemon"] and [player_tooltip player_id="190270" first="DeAndre" last="Moore"]. It will be fun to see Los Alamitos running back [player_tooltip player_id="25421" first="Nygel" last="Osborne"] play against his former team in Bosco. Bosco’s offense features two quality quarterbacks in [player_tooltip player_id="25273" first="Katin" last="Houser"] (Michigan State) and [player_tooltip player_id="25367" first="Pierce" last="Clarkson"]. [player_tooltip player_id="25233" first="Rayshon" last="Luke"] is the speedy running back for the Braves and [player_tooltip player_id="143115" first="Chedon" last="James"] has been heating up at receiver. The key matchup will be the Bosco pass rushers: [player_tooltip player_id="25302" first="Jairus" last="Satele"], [player_tooltip player_id="25245" first="Nathan" last="Burrell"] and [player_tooltip player_id="25456" first="Matayo" last="Uiagalelei"] against the Griffins’ offensive line with [player_tooltip player_id="187300" first="Cash" last="Koepke"] and [player_tooltip player_id="141963" first="David" last="Main"]. The Braves will try to put pressure on Nelson and force mistakes that its defensive backs like [player_tooltip player_id="25253" first="Sione" last="Hala"], [player_tooltip player_id="115433" first="Peyton" last="Woodyard"] and [player_tooltip player_id="25252" first="Tayvion" last="Beasley"] can capitalize on. The pick: St. John Bosco https://twitter.com/prepzone/status/1458887253627858948?s=20 Mission Viejo vs. Centennial Analysis: I broke this game down in detail in an earlier piece for Prep Redzone here. This is a matchup between the two best public school teams in the state. CalPreps predicts Centennial to blowout Mission Viejo 40-22. Centennial has more Division 1 college talent, but I don’t think this game will be a blowout as some people expect. Mission Viejo is too good to get blownout by another public school team. The pick: Centennial https://twitter.com/prepzone/status/1458964007608537092?s=20 Division 2 Alemany vs. Bishop Amat Analysis: These two Mission League foes met earlier in the season and Alemany won 45-35. Alemany is loaded with star-power. [player_tooltip player_id="25290" first="Floyd" last="Chalk"] ran for 260 yards with three touchdowns in the first matchup and [player_tooltip player_id="25262" first="Jaylen" last="Thompson"] ran for 186 yards and a touchdown. [player_tooltip player_id="25231" first="Niuafe" last="Tuihalamaka"] led the Alemany defense with 12 tackles. [player_tooltip player_id="25244" first="Damonic" last="Williams"] and [player_tooltip player_id="25260" first="Rashad" last="McKenzie"] also had big games defensively. Hunter Watson did well as the backup quarterback for Bishop Amat last week against Yorba Linda. The most fun matchup in this game is between Amat receiver [player_tooltip player_id="145208" first="Delano" last="Franklin"] and Alemany corner [player_tooltip player_id="25237" first="Ephesians" last="Prysock"]. This game will be very different from the first matchup, but I don’t think the result will be much different. The pick: Alemany https://twitter.com/SGVNSports/status/1458820407142739970?s=20
