The Class 6A-D2 state championship is set for 7PM on December 2nd at UCO. Three-time defending champion Bixby is once again back in the title game and looking to make all sorts of history. And on the other side you have Deer Creek that has made a somewhat unexpected run to the title game and will look to take down the giant Spartans. Prep Redzone Oklahoma will have the most in-depth championship preview and state title game content that you will find anywhere! In this post, we take a look at the players you need to know about for defending champion Bixby as they head into the title game.
[player_tooltip player_id="38679" first="Braylin" last="Presley"] - 2022 Running Back
The reigning Prep Redzone Oklahoma Player Of The Year is Bixby running back [player_tooltip player_id="38679" first="Braylin" last="Presley"] and not much has changed during his senior season. While he doesn’t have the monster numbers he put up last season, he also hasn’t missed a step and has been just as dynamic and electric. Presley has consistently been one of the big game players and this year has been no different. The Oklahoma State commit is a threat to score every time he touches the ball and for the second straight year, he’s led the Spartans in rushing and receiving.
[player_tooltip player_id="193013" first="Christian" last="Burke"] - 2022 Quarterback
The biggest question mark surrounding Bixby heading into this season, other than whether or not they would set the winning streak record, surrounded around their new quarterback. Someone would have to replace Mason Williams, a quarterback that went 36-1 as the starter for the Spartans and left some big shoes to fill. As we found out, senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="193013" first="Christian" last="Burke"] was ready for that challenge and has exceeded all expectations we may have had for him back in August. Burke has been the signal caller for the most explosive offense in Oklahoma and they haven’t missed a step.
[player_tooltip player_id="197183" first="Connor" last="Kirby"] - 2023 Quarterback
Bixby’s secret weapon has been the junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="197183" first="Connor" last="Kirby"]. The emergence of the junior quarterback has given the Spartans yet another weapon in their dangerous offense. The combination of Presley and Kirby in the Bixby backfield has led to countless rushing touchdowns this season. While Kirby has primarily been used as a running quarterback and on short yardage situations, he’s also been able to throw the ball a little bit. Kirby has helped the Spartans add a new element to their offense, helpng them average over 60 points per game.
[player_tooltip player_id="91881" first="Dylan" last="Hasz"] - 2023 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
Most people know about twin brother [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] because of his commitment to Oklahoma. But you can make the argument that the more important Hasz brother to this Bixby team is Dylan as he stars on both sides of the ball. Dylan also helps out in special teams by returning punts and is a dynamic and physical football player. Luke had a phenomenal offseason where his recruitment blew up and honestly, Dylan is putting together a strong junior season where his recruitment should absolutely take off throughout the offseason.
[player_tooltip player_id="55157" first="Jack" last="Puckett"] - 2022 Linebacker
With the way senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="55157" first="Jack" last="Puckett"] ended the 2020 season, it’s no wonder he’s been one of the best linebackers in the state this year. Puckett completely shut down Choctaw in the title game as they were trying to rally and clinched another title for the Spartans. He’s continued that momentum into this season as one of the best and most underrated linebackers in the state. We still don’t understand how more colleges aren’t beating down the doors at Bixby to try and sign this kid but there’s no doubt he’s been one of the best in Oklahoma this season.
