This week has a little bit of everything. We have a freshman QB with his best game of the season, some of the most productive RBs in the state, and an OL who as I type this just announced on Twitter his first D1 offer (Congrats, Josh!). Let’s get right into the Hudl videos!
Wade Lindahl, ’25 QB- Lourdes
Stat Line: 22/24, 254 Yards, 4 TDs
The 5’11” 160 lbs freshman has been putting together a very impressive first season of varsity action, and this past Friday he put together his best game of the season. You could just flash the stat line to show how accurate and efficient he was on the night, but once you turn on the highlights it’s even more impressive. Wade already has solid footwork and throwing mechanics that allow him to maximize the velocity he puts on his passes. Lindahl carved up the defense this week in the short to intermediate ranges with that velocity and with spot- on accuracy. The freshman has a bright future ahead of him. College coaches, make sure you have him on your radars going forward. I can’t wait to watch how he continues to grow and develop. He looks like he is just scratching the surface. Check out his highlights here!
Brycen Cashin Brycen Cashin 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Pacelli | 2022 State WI , ’22 RB- Pacelli
Stat Line: 11 Carries, 274 Yards, 4 TDs, 1 Reception, 12 Yards
The most productive RB in the state of Wisconsin over the past two seasons continued doing what he’s been doing since he first touched a varsity field; completely dominating his competition with a balance of big plays and powerful, tone setting carries. The 5’11” 190 lbs senior is currently top 5 in rushing yards and leads the state in rushing TDs. From what I have found, it looks like Cashin is one of the most under the radar seniors at this point of the season because I don’t see any offers for the prep star. I highly recommend checking out the linked highlights because you will find a back with a solid blend of vision, playmaking ability, and power. Brycen does a very good job of quickly identifying running lanes and then accelerating through them. Once he finds and hits those lanes he becomes a strong runner that must be gang tackled to ensure he will be stopped. D3s should definitely be banging down his doors. Brycen’s Week 8 Highlights
Reed Breckheimer Reed Breckheimer 6'0" | 215 lbs | ATH Hilbert | 2022 State WI , ’22 RB/LB- Hilbert
Stat Line: 20 Carries, 397 Yards, 4 TDs
Reed is another senior on this list of top performers who is flying under the radar when it comes to recruiting. He had received steady interest back in the spring, but it seems to have dropped off for the 6′ 215 lbs two-way stud. I believe Reed is still searching for his first offer, and I’m expecting him to be a steal for a D3 program in the near future. Reed relies on his power as he attacks defenses with his north-south, get off the tracks or get run over running style. Breckheimer easily runs through arm tackles and has the strength to move the pile as he attacks between the tackles. Reed’s best position might even be somewhere on the defensive side of the ball, but either way he is a senior that should being receiving a little more attention than he has this fall. Check him out. Reed’s Week 8 Highlights
Reese Osgood, ’22 WR- Franklin
Stat Line: 4 Receptions, 68 Yards, 2 TDs
Reese is another senior poised to become a big time steal when a program at the next level lands him. The 6’1″ 180 lbs WR was the most athletically gifted prospect during our Prep Redzone WI Showcase this past spring where he posted a 4.44 40, 10′.5” broad jump, and 6.91 L Drill. Those explosive numbers translate to the field of play very well. His week 8 is a great example of how. Reese shows very good acceleration off the line and quickly eats up huge cushions, which puts a lot of pressure on the DB. From there Reese can either take the top off the defense with that elite straight line speed or he can switch to his impressive short area agility and change of direction that shows up in his route running. His ability to carry his speed through his cuts allows him to create big time separation from DBs. Osgood is just as dangerous after the catch as he is before the catch. Once he gets the ball in his hands the defense better have guys right there or he is going to eat up yards after the catch. Check him out. Biggest steal in this week’s article. Reese’s Week 8 Highlights
Ethan Mathe Ethan Mathe 5'7" | 185 lbs | RB Winneconne | 2024 State WI , ’24 RB- Winneconne
Stat Line: 15 Carries, 179 Yards, 2 TDs, 5 Receptions, 66 Yards, 1 TD
If you caught my article previewing games with playoff implications from last week then you know I had my eyes on how Ethan was going to perform against a tough defense on the biggest stage of their season. Check the stats, or the film, and you will see that the 5’7″ 165 lbs sophomore was up for the challenge as he helped his team clinch a playoff berth with the victory. It’s awesome film to watch too! Mathe quickly demonstrates his game breaking speed with a roughly 85 yard TD where he was nearly untouched. He also proved to be a dangerous receiver out of the backfield this week. His instincts look natural already too. Especially when he attacks downhill between the tackles. There is no hesitation to his game. He finds the lanes, and then uses those impressive athletic traits to exploit the running room. I’m very interested in how Ethan is going to continue to grow over the next few years. Right now, he looks like a dangerous, game-breaking, change of pace option for the next level. If he continues to get bigger while keeping that athletic profile he could be even more. Definitely a player to watch going forward. Ethan’s Week 8 Highlights
Owen Martinson Owen Martinson 6'3" | 200 lbs | DB Waterford Union | 2023 State WI , ’23 WR- Waterford
Stat Line: 4 Receptions, 71 Yards, 2 TDs
Solid game by the 6’2″ 170 lbs two sport athlete. This past Friday night we not only saw Owen out wide, but he even produced while lined up as a traditional inline TE. Obviously he doesn’t have the size for that at the next level, but it allowed him to exploit a favorable matchup as he was able to get behind the LBs and beat the safety to the sideline on the corner route for the reception, and another time he was able to drive a DB off the ball to open up a lane for his RB. Owen also proved he can be a strong runner after the catch flashing a nice stiff arm that got him in for one of his scores on the night. Check out his night here! Owen’s Week 8 Highlights
Silvio Lanza, ’22 RB/K/P/WR/DB- Grafton
Stat Line: 25 Carries, 182 Yards, 3 TDs
Lanza is quite the Swiss Army knife for the Grafton Blackhawks, and his versatility has gotten him the attention of coaches at the next level. Lanza currently holds 5 roster offers from the D3 level and has visited some additional D3 and D2 schools. It’s clear to see what has their attention. He makes an impact at each of the positions I listed above. Silvio caught my attention this week with his kicking and RB performances. First off, Lanza has a nice boot of a right leg. He is definitely deserving of his 4 star Kohl’s Kicking rating. As an RB, Silvio is a patient runner that does a good job of allowing his blocks to set up and then quickly hits the hole after the blocks are executed. Once he uses the blocks to his fullest Lanza transitions to a north-south runner that doesn’t waste time with lateral movements or jukes. He is either going to try and beat the pursuit angle or attempt to break through the tackle attempt. Both of which he did this week. Check out his film from the week. Silvio’s Week 8 Highlights
Josh Witt Josh Witt 6'3" | 300 lbs | OL Ashwaubenon | 2022 State WI , ’22 OL- Ashwaubenon
Stat Line: 400+ Yards of Total Offense
The 6’3″ 300 lbs OT is coming off a strong week 8 performance, and he is also coming off of his first D1 offer from Valparaiso University! It’s been a long time coming for the physically dominant lineman. Based off his dominant physical traits I believe Josh will be at his best on the inside at the next level. That way he can utilize his very heavy hands and overall strength to quickly clamp onto interior defensive linemen and then walk them back into the second level would make a big impact at the next level. We got a good look at those abilities in Week 8. There are also several snaps where we got to see Josh show off his short area lateral agility as he quickly got himself in position to wall off defenders before even making contact with them. He rounded off his film with a clip of him getting to the second level for a block. Crazy to think Witt just came back from a surgery on his foot/ankle area in the late first half of the season. So, you can expect even better play going forward. Check him out! Josh’s Week 8 Highlights
Austin Schlies Austin Schlies 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Northwestern | 2022 State WI , ’22 RB/LB- Northwestern
Stat Line: 17 Carries, 222 Yards, 4 TDs, 8 Tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 Sack
Austin is one of northern WI’s hidden gems. The two-way senior playmaker has been putting together a dominant season. The 6′ 195 lbs ATH relies on his power when it comes to running the ball. Austin has enough speed to pick up big chunks when he gets in the open field, but he predominantly is used in situations that favor his ability to move the pile, run through contact, and fall forwards. Austin sees and reacts to defenders and blocks well during the play and uses small lateral adjustments to put himself in the best position to continue to gain yards. This is an offensive performance article, but I also want to mention that Schlies is also a solid OLB prospect. He uses that strength we see on offense to set a strong edge against the run and also uses it to shed blocks so he can get after the QB. Time for programs to start taking notice of the Northwestern playmaker. Austin’s Week 8 Highlights
AJ Korth, ’23 QB- Menasha
Stat Line: 17/30, 263 Yards, 3 TDs, 7 Carries, 80 Yards, 1 TD
The 5’11” 175 lbs junior is first and foremost an impressive athlete. When he chooses to tuck it and run on offense he becomes a serious threat to take it the distance. That dual threat ability has allowed Korth to become one of the most productive players in the state. As a passer, Korth has the arm to attack down the field, but he can put extra velocity on the ball when he attacks the short to intermediate ranges. Whether short, intermediate, or deep down the field, Korth’s week 8 film shows an accurate passer to every level of the field. Accuracy that remains even when AJ is on the run outside of the pocket. Over the next year, I expect schools to start showing interest in AJ both as a passer and as an athlete. Check out his week 8 highlights here! AJ’s Week 8 Highlights
