Depending on when the 2021 high school football season started in your state, you may already finished up the regular season or are on the final week of competition before playoffs begin. It's been an exciting fall so far, with crazy last second finishes, heated rivalry matchups, meteoric recruiting rises (hello Jimmy Rolder!), and incredibly athletic personal performances from the Iron Range of Minnesota down to the prairies of Kansas, and everywhere in between. With the postseason upon us throughout the Midwest, this is looking like one of the final times I can give you a comprehensive review of the best performances from around America's Heartland, so congratulations to all of the selections and a special shoutout to our subscribers who have been reading these weakly features and supporting the 2021 stat monsters in the Dakotas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Xander Sheehan (Hamlin, SD) 2022. Completed 19 passes on 28 attempts for 339 yards and 2 TDs in a loss to Warner. Ryan Krog (Elkton-Lake Benton, SD) 2023. Went 14-26 for 221 passing yards and 4 TDs and added 60 rushing yards and 3 TDs. David Schmitz (Oakes, ND) 2022. Posted 19 carries for 204 yards and 4 TDs. Jordan Johnson (Brandon Valley, SD) 2022. Rushed 10 times for 147 yards and 3 TDs. Rocky Wiedman (Todd County, SD) 2023. In a win over Lower Brule the junior totaled 9 carries for 50 yards and 2 TDs, caught 2 passes for 31 yards, made 5 tackles, 3 TFLs, 2 sacks, and a PBU. Cashnyn Belgarde (St. John, ND) 2024. The sophomore posted 18 carries for 188 yards and 2 TDs and recorded 7 tackles and an interception on defense. Illinois Aiden Cyr (Hoffman Estates) 2023. The junior stat monster passed for 353 yards and 6 TDs and added a rushing TD against Schaumburg. Indiana Laban Davis (Eastside) 2022. Against Angola rushed for 207 yards and 5 TDs and added another 62 yards through the air. Justin Marshall (Merrillville) 2023. Caught 7 passes for 240 yards and 3 TDs against Chesterton High School. He recently earned his first college football offer from Ball State. Tyler Schultze (De Soto) 2022. Against Leavenworth the senior rushed for 323 yards, threw for 99 yards, and scored 4 total TDs.
