10 Players in 2A You Need to Know

It’s time to show the 2A kids some love! A ton of small school athletes have been balling out across the state, so here’s a look at 10 players from the 2A conference that you should know about: <img class="size-medium wp-image-136303 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/04/PRZ-Generic-Gray-300x187.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="187" /> &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="115516" first="Zayden" last="Neill"], <em>QB, San Tan Charter ’24:</em> He does a solid job stretching the field vertically to push the ball downfield. He’s flashed some nice mechanics and mobility in the pocket to step, slide, or scramble and has hit all 3 levels of throws with placement. Strong potential for the 2024 QB going forward. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="100655" first="Matthew" last="McClelland"], <em>ATH, Arete Prep:</em> McClelland is a promising all-around athlete that just picked up his first division 1 offer from Morehead State. He does a bit of everything for Arete Prep. He’s a dual-threat QB with the ability to break the game open with his arm or on the ground, and a smart and instinctual DB. Very well rounded athlete and perhaps the best overall athlete in 2A. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="115491" first="Norien" last="Banks"], <em>LB, Sequoia Pathway ’24:</em> Banks is establishing himself as possibly the biggest defensive threat in the state in 2A ball. In 8 games played, he has racked up 96 tackles (72 solo), 32 TFL’s, 12 sacks, and an INT. A raw talent that is only scratching the surface of his potential. Powerful at the POA to overpower opponents but also knows how to create space and give himself room to work. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="42859" first="Gabe" last="Escobedo"], <em>WR, Miami ’22:</em> Escobedo is electric with the ball in his hands and can burn defenses in various ways. Dangerous in the screen game with the ability to make people miss and take it to the house, or utilize speed and take the top off a defense and be a vertical threat. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="170682" first="Creon" last="Fulgham"], <em>DB, Chandler Prep ’24:</em> Fulgham is the definition of a gamer, and has been an absolute ball hawk for Chandler Prep, racking up 7 INT’s in 7 games played. Fulgham possesses solid ball skills with a nice burst to the ball. Quick and speedy player on both sides of the ball for Chandler Prep, and holds big potential to blow up 2A ball for the next couple years. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="100675" first="Devin" last="Bowling"], <em>ATH, Benson ’22:</em> A solid player on both sides of the ball that possesses an athletic build and frame. solid top end speed in space and can be a big play threat in 2A with the ball in his hands. Overall a talented athlete and a 2022 to keep an eye on. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="100722" first="Jimmy" last="Lerblance"], <em>DB, Benson ’22:</em> A smart DB that shows solid route and concept recognition. Solid ball skills with ball hawk ability as he reacts to the ball in a timely manner, and he is a very underrated player in 2A ball across the state. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="119615" first="Sam" last="Terpstra"], <em>QB, Glendale Prep ’22:</em> Terpstra is having another solid season yet again as he continues to put up solid numbers. Dual-threat QB that has thrown for 1,261 yards and 16 TD’s, while adding another 501 yards and 4 TD’s on the ground. A definite playmaker on every snap, and has continued to progress and take leaps and process the game quicker. &nbsp; <strong>Ricardo Alaniz</strong>, <em>RB, Santa Cruz Valley ’22:</em> Alaniz has been a stud thus far by racking up 1,240 yards on the ground<img class="size-medium wp-image-208640 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/09/3-300x157.png" alt="" width="300" height="157" /> with 14 TD’s. A definite key player on the SCVHS offense as he continues to put up solid numbers every week. &nbsp; <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="214119" first="Cristian" last="Pando"]</strong>, <em>ATH, Wilcox ’23:</em> Pando is a flat out playmaker every time he touches the ball. He’s rushed for 1,156 yards and 19 TD’s thus far, while adding 46 tackles and 2 INT’s on defense. &nbsp; &nbsp;
