As always, send us your picks for top performers after each game. Tweet them @PrepRedzoneOK or email them to Michael@PrepRedzone.com [player_tooltip player_id="189180" first="Boyce" last="McIntosh"] - 2022 Quarterback - Community Christian 16-24 | 278 Yards | 6 Touchdowns Community Christian won in dominating fashion once again as the Royals improved to 3-1 on the season. The Royals won their third game in a row after a season-opening loss to Crossings Christian. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="189180" first="Boyce" last="McIntosh"] was lights out as the Royals won in a shutout. He threw for 278 yards and six touchdowns on 16-24 passing. Community Christian is in full bounce back mode after that week zero loss to Crossings Christian. The Royals have a showdown looming with Washington in week six. That’ll be arguably the toughest test for the Royals this season. The Royals are absolutely rolling but that week six clash with Washington will be a must watch event within that district.
[player_tooltip player_id="206777" first="Canon" last="West"] - 2022 Running Back - Tuttle 24 Carries | 118 Yards | 3 Touchdowns It was our game of the week and a 1 VS 2 showdown in Class 4A between Cushing and Tuttle. Senior running back [player_tooltip player_id="206777" first="Canon" last="West"] led the way for the Tigers as it was #2 Tuttle prevailing on the road. The defense certainly grabbed the headlines as they held a Cushing offense that was averaging over 40 points per game to just 7 points on Friday night. But on offense, West scored all three of Tuttle’s touchdowns and finished as the workhorse back in the Tiger offense. He finished with 24 carries for 118 yards and the three touchdowns. He did it in a variety of ways as well. He would take direct snaps as a wildcat quarterback and would also line up as the single back in the backfield and did plenty of damage there as well.
[player_tooltip player_id="193013" first="Christian" last="Burke"] - 2022 Quarterback - Bixby 18-23 | 315 Yards | 3 Touchdowns The Bixby Spartans won their 40th game in a row on Friday when they went on the road and dominated Bartesville 71-0. Bixby had the game won by halftime and the Spartans continue their march for another state championship and the state’s record for longest winning streak. On Friday night, Bixby senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="193013" first="Christian" last="Burke"] was incredibly efficient within the Spartan offense. He finished with 315 yards and three touchdowns on 18-23 passing. The Bixby offense was not only efficient, but it was incredibly balanced as well as they had no problems extending their winning streak to 40 straight victories. Burke, in his first year as QB1 for the Spartans, is off to a great start. There’s no doubt that he has plenty of weapons around him but Burke has been lights out.
[player_tooltip player_id="57158" first="Emmanuel" last="Crawford"] - 2023 Running Back - Grove 22 Carries | 286 Yards | 5 Touchdowns For the second straight week, Grove running back [player_tooltip player_id="57158" first="Emmanuel" last="Crawford"] could not be stopped. This time, it was on the road against Oologah and the Ridgerunners remained undefeated with a decisive win. Crawford had 270 yards and six touchdowns in their win last week and would go a step further in the yardage department with 286 yards on 22 carries and finished with five touchdowns. For those keeping track at home, that’s 556 yards and 11 touchdowns in just two weeks. Grove is rolling as we open up district play and the ultimate goal is to dethrone Wagoner within the district and truly compete for a state championship. With Crawford doing his thing in the Grove backfield, the Ridgerunners have to be considered a true threat in Class 4A.
[player_tooltip player_id="38689" first="Jaylon" last="Orange"] - 2022 Running Back - Shawnee 191 Rushing Yards | 93 Receiving Yards | 6 Total Touchdowns | 1 Interception After starting the year 0-3, Shawnee got a win on Friday against Durant and senior standout [player_tooltip player_id="38689" first="Jaylon" last="Orange"] showed why he’s one of the best playmakers in Class 5A football. He finished the night with six touchdowns and had an impact in just about every phase of the game. He finished with nearly 200 yards rushing, nearly 100 yards receiving and also had an interception on the defensive side of the ball. Shawnee’s non-district schedule was brutal with three games against top ten teams in 5A. Now, the Wolves should be able to string together a nice stretch with district play opening up, but their last three games are brutal as well with Coweta, McAlester and Bishop Kelley all in the final three weeks. But Orange and the the Wolves are ready for a strong October run.
[player_tooltip player_id="53320" first="Landon" last="Lagasse"] - 2022 Wide Receiver - Cashion 15 Catches | 156 Yards | 5 Touchdowns It feels like we have a Cashion player on this list every single week but you can’t knock the results as the defending Class A state champs are on a roll in the last few weeks. The Cashion passing offense has been lights out over the last few weeks and senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="53320" first="Landon" last="Lagasse"] had another big night as they knocked off Watonga. He finished with 15 receptions for 156 yards and five touchdowns in the win over previously undefeated Watonga. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="52273" first="Ben" last="Harman"] has been lighting up defenses and it seems like we can pick Harman, Lagasse or fellow receiver [player_tooltip player_id="53312" first="Mason" last="Manning"] every single week for the Top Performer list. In a few weeks, Cashion will have a bye week and that might be the only time that one of those three players ISN’T on the list.
[player_tooltip player_id="98176" first="La’Trell" last="Ray"] - 2023 Running Back - Choctaw 35 Carries | 287 Yards | 1 Touchdown In another one of week four’s biggest games, it was #2 Choctaw hosting #3 Booker T Washington in a massive 6A-2 showdown. Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id="98176" first="La’Trell" last="Ray"] has been on our radar since this offseason when he was outstanding with Sooner 7. We believed that he was primed for a breakout season this fall. Well in one of the biggest games of the year, it was Ray who stood out on a field full of stars on both sides of the match-up. He finished as a workhorse back with an eye-opening 35 carries for 287 yards and one touchdown in the win. We thought that Ray could be that explosive weapon within the Choctaw offense and if Friday night was any indication, it’s going to be a special junior season.
[player_tooltip player_id="52787" first="Max" last="Brown"] - 2022 Quarterback - Lincoln Christian 7-9 | 283 Yards | 5 Touchdowns | 1 Rushing Touchdown It was a very short night for Lincoln Christian and senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="52787" first="Max" last="Brown"] as they blew out Tahlequah Sequoyah. Despite only playing in the first half, the Central Michigan commit continued to put up some monster numbers within the Lincoln offense. Brown only threw nine passes on the night and completed seven of them and five went for touchdowns. He also finished with 283 yards and a rushing touchdown as well. Brown’s average completion went for over 40 yards in the win over Sequoyah. Brown has been on an absolute tear to start his senior season as the Bulldogs improved to 5-0 on the year. He’s certainly at the top or near the top of the shortlist for Player Of The Year right now.
[player_tooltip player_id="51871" first="Michael" last="Taffe"] - 2023 Running Back - Bishop McGuinness 28 Carries | 271 Yards | 6 Touchdowns Bishop McGuinness and Lawton Eisenhower got into one of the highest scoring affairs of week four as the Irish survived a shootout against Eisenhower. The Irish have been led this season by junior standout [player_tooltip player_id="51871" first="Michael" last="Taffe"] and he had arguably his best game of the season in the shootout victory. He finished with 271 yards and six touchdowns on 28 carries. He also had an impact as a receiver and also threw a bomb pass in the win. Taffe was going to be expected to be the workhorse of this Irish offense coming into the season after the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id="38557" first="Luke" last="Tarman"] and Taffe has not disappointed. Future contests with Carl Albert and Guthrie will be tough but Taffe and the Irish appear ready to take over this district and contend once again in 5A.
[player_tooltip player_id="207530" first="Todd" last="Mattox"] - 2022 Running Back - Poteau 27 Carries | 314 Yards | 3 Touchdowns While plenty of eyes were on the 4A 1 VS 2 showdown in Cushing, another top five clash happened as #5 Poteau visited #3 Hilldale. Poteau absolutely dominated from the start and showed that they are still the top dog in their district as they dispatched the Hornets. Leading the way for the Pirate offense was senior running back [player_tooltip player_id="207530" first="Todd" last="Mattox"], who finished with 314 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries. Mattox’s performance was one of the best of the week, regardless of class and regardless of position. When you combine the performance with just how big the game is, Mattox’s performance was one of the best of week four. He continues to have an outstanding senior season and is one of the leading rushers in the state.
