Continue ReadingI happened to catch the tail end of the JV contest between host Lyons Township and visiting New Trier. Although I didn’t see the majority of the game, I did get a chance to see about 10 minutes of the final quarter. I then asked a Lyons coach which players stood out during their 31-6 win and got some info which I’ll share below. Here are the players that I saw, the ones that passed the look test and a standout that I missed.
New Trier
2024 running back Aidan Corboy
One of the first plays I got to see, was Corboy taking a handoff to the right side, hitting the corner and off he went of a 59-yard scoring jaunt. He showed elusiveness and the speed that could make a difference down the line. It was a very nice run.
Passed the look test:
2024 wide receiver Miles Cremascoli Miles Cremascoli 6'3" | 205 lbs | ATH New Trier | 2024 State IL (6’2” and 185lbs) @milescremascoli
I’ve seen the younger Cremascoli as camps, he’s got the frame and potential to make an impact on the varsity level in the coming years.
2024 Offensive lineman Francesco Youkhana (6’3” and 265lbs) @Frank_Y06
Right now Youkhana looks like a guard, but if he hits a grown spurt has the potential to be a tackle. Either way, he’s got a great frame and should be a solid player when he makes his move to varsity.
2024 Wide receiver Charles Fiske
A bit on the light side, Fiske has long arms that will help him win 50/50 balls. There is plenty of potential due to his frame to play multiple positions.
Lyons Township
2024 Running back Daniel Montesano (5’11” and 150lbs) @24danmontesano
The star of the JV game, Montesano had three scores prior to my arrival. The Lyons coaching staff raved about his work ethic and ability to make plays out of nothing. He’s a name to keep tabs on as he continues to progress heading towards varsity playing time.
2024 Quarterback Ryan Jackson Ryan Jackson 5'10" | 180 lbs | QB Lyons Township | 2024 IL (5’9” and 155lbs) @RyanJackson714
Another player the coaching staff was excited about, Jackson does a great job of getting outside the pocket and making plays happen. I’ve seen Jackson before at camps, so hearing this knowledge was not a shock. There’s a good chance that the Jackson takes over the varsity starting job next fall.
Passed the look test:
2024 Lineman Cooper Komsthoeft (5’11” and 230lbs)
A good frame with a solid base, Komsthoeft most likely will end up as a guard. He’s a wide body with potential to be a solid interior offensive lineman.
2024 Athlete (RB/LB) Dylan Rickman (6’ and 175lbs) @DylanRickman4
Great athletic frame, with plenty of room to grow, Rickman has the positional versatility that teams love. He could also end up playing in the secondary.
2024 Athlete (WR/LB) Thomas Townsend (6’ and 160lbs)
With room to add on weight Townsend looks like he could end up as a very good defender. A bit on the smaller side to play receiver at the moment, but the potential is interesting.
2024 Lineman Danny Zarco (6’4” and 230lbs) @dannyzarco05
Unfortunately I couldn’t find Zarco after the game, it shouldn’t have been hard, he was one of the biggest players out there. With longer arms, he can stay at tackle, but most likely not on a quarterbacks blind side. He’s nimble enough to play guard as well, I really like Zarco’s versatility.
2024 Athlete (WR/DL) Luke Wehling (6’ and 195lbs) @LukeWehling
Already looking like he could play up a level, Wehling also could line up at multiple positions when he arrives at varsity. When you play wide receiver and defensive end, the athletic talent is there and it should be interesting to see which position Wehling ends up when he moves to play with the big squad.
