Ryan may not have the prototypical size at the QB spot but that hasn’t stopped college coaches from noticing this off-season. This dual-sport standout shows his baseball background has helped him on the gridiron with 31 TD’s thrown last season and only 3 INTS. Ryan shows a great understanding of the offense he is running, rarely putting the Lyon’s offense in bad situations. Ryan was one of the reasons the Lyons had so much success last year making it all the way to the quarterfinals in the 8A playoffs.

Ryan was the first prospect that popped out to me at the St. Thomas prospect camp on Friday, due to his athletic mobility and swift change of direction he showed off in the early drills in St. Paul. He showed off plenty of agile footwork in those early reps and not the tallest QB you have ever seen, showed off a solid frame with great hip flexibility showing off that this young man has some dual-threat capability at the QB position. When I got to watch Ryan in Indy drills, he showed off efficient and quick progressions thru his reads with an extremely quick release that showed off efficent touch on his ball on all three levels going into 1v1s. When you watch Ryan’s junior tape, you quickly see the escape mobility this young man has outside of the pocket as he has the football IQ to turn a nothing play into a touchdown real quick with his ability to escape and buy more time as he also shows great arm strength throwing from the run. He also showed off great precision on his deeper routes in my eyes as Ryan has picked up two offers since Friday with one being the Tommies.
