The DeWitt Panthers have their sights set on winning another state title this season. The Panthers find themselves at 4-1 so far this season with the only loss coming to a 5-0 Portland Red Raiders team. This is a team that has looked so impressive in their wins. In the 4 wins combined, they are winning by an average margin of victory of just over 41 points.
<strong>#21 [player_tooltip player_id="93776" first="Bryce" last="Debri"]</strong> <strong>(RB)-</strong> Debri made a big impact in DeWitt’s win over Grand ledge. Debri had 12 carries for 75 yards in the game. He also had an interception with 6:20 in the first quarter that sparked major momentum in DeWitt’s favor. Debri also recorded two tackles in the game. Debri fits the definition of a go-to player. Meaning he is a player whose number you call to get you a first down or big play when needed.
<strong>#2 Nick Flegler (WR)- </strong>Flegler had a tremendous high-point catch early in the game against Grand ledge. Flegler was impactful on both sides of the football. He totaled two catches for 48 yards. Flegler also had 5 tackles on the defense. Flegler is a guy that DeWitt will look to in the playoffs for contributions on offense and defense.
<strong>#5 Tyler Holtz (QB)- </strong>Holtz does a great job of taking care of the football and not forcing bad throws. Holtz had 10 completions for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win over Grand Ledge. Holtz played good football in the week one win over Traverse City Central, throwing for 6 touchdowns passed in the game. Holtz got DeWitt on the board early against Holt with a 23-yard touchdown run. Holtz is a guy that the coaches can trust to lead them to another state title.
<strong>#10 [player_tooltip player_id="30211" first="Tommy" last="McIntosh"] (WR)- </strong>McIntosh shined against Grand Ledge in the receiving category. [player_tooltip player_id="30211" first="Tommy" last="McIntosh"] accounted for 5 catches, 117 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. McIntosh makes plays on the defensive side of the football also. McIntosh had key defensive plays in the win over Holt. He was also a major factor in the win in the opener over Traverse City Central. McIntosh is a player that when he gets going, it's so difficult to stop him. McIntosh was getting open and making catches on just about every other play vs East Lansing.
<b>#4 Blaker Haller (DB)- </b>Haller did an excellent job in coverage against Grand Ledge at the cornerback position for the Panthers. Haller does a good job of staying in front of his man and not allowing wide receivers to get past him. Blake Haller is also a willing tackler who is not afraid to come up and stop the run.
<strong>#8 Byrce Kurncz (WR/DB)- </strong>Kurncz had a monster game against Traverse City Central. In the game, Kurncz had 4 total touchdowns. Kurncz is also a very impactful player on the defensive side. Kurncz had a big interception in the win over the Holt Rams. Like Haller, Kurncz rarely ever gives up a lot of yardage on a given play. His coverage will be so crucial against other talented wide receivers in the conference that DeWitt will face.
