Arizona has been a gold mine for QB’s, which is why I dug deep into some film and the recruitment of some of the states top gunslingers. In my QB series, I will be featuring the top QB’s from each division to breakout in 2021. First up is 6A, so take a look at the top QB’s in 6A football that I project to put up big numbers this fall:
*Important to know: Chandler High has a 3-man QB battle. As we await the QB1 announcement for Chandler, all of which ([player_tooltip player_id="161934" first="Blaine" last="Hipa"], [player_tooltip player_id="159393" first="Kenneth" last="Cooper"], and [player_tooltip player_id="161952" first="Ethan" last="Moore"]) have the potential and project to be a top 5 QB in 6A ball depending on who gets the nod to start.
[player_tooltip player_id="42783" first="Nicco" last="Marchiol"], 6’2" 220lbs, Hamilton ’22
The West Virginia commit enters his senior year after a Open Division championship loss to Chandler in 2020, and had very busy and intriguing offseason. Marchiol threw for 1,417 yards and 11 TD’s and added another 535 yards and 6 TD’s on the ground in 2020. Pro-style kid that everyone knows about here out west with the ability to sit back and dice up defenses effortlessly. Natural arm talent and strong football IQ, as the list goes on and on. He’s our #1 ranked QB in the state of Arizona, and it will be fun to watch him lead Hamilton and potentially make a deep run in the playoffs here in 2021.
[player_tooltip player_id="42815" first="Brayten" last="Silbor"], 6’3" 195lbs, Chaparral ’22
Silbor comes off a 6A State Title win and is committed to New Mexico, but is still one of the most slept on QB’s in the state in my opinion, as his name should come up 100% of the time when talking about the states top 5 gunslingers. He sizes up with a good frame and length and possesses solid arm strength to both stretch the field vertically or fit throws into tight windows with velocity. He gets the ball out with a quick and fluid release and flashes solid anticipation for routes to develop. In 8 games, Silbor threw for 2,348 yards and 18 TD’s and added another 4 TD’s on the ground. As pure of a pocket passer as you’ll get with big potential to break loose in 2021, as New Mexico landed a steal.
[player_tooltip player_id="115519" first="Demond" last="Williams"], 6’0" 180lbs, Basha ’23

Williams is a promising young prospect on a talented Basha squad. He earned the QB1 role last season as a freshman and saw his stock jump dramatically as he holds 9 offers entering his sophomore year. in 2020, Williams threw for 1,814 yards and 16 TD’s, and added 3 TD’s on the ground. Mechanically sound in the pocket and delivers with a fluid release, as he’s shown the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws. Excellent ability to use touch or velocity, and throws the deep ball with a nice trajectory and placement. Williams processes the game much quicker than everyone else in his class, and not only is he a top 2024 QB, but he is a top 5 QB in the state including every class. Expect Williams to play lights out in 2021.
[player_tooltip player_id="42818" first="Gage" last="Dayley"], 5’10" 170lbs, Highland ’22
Dayley comes off a strong junior campaign as he threw for over 2,100 yards and 17 TD's, and led Highland to a 6A State Championship appearance but came up short against Chaparral. He possesses a high football IQ and frequently identified favorable matchups last season. Dayley shows good poise and anticipation in the pocket and delivers with a quick release. He does a great job distinguishing whether to use velocity vs touch and hits all 3 levels of throws with timing and accuracy. He stepped up and was a clutch performer last year in the playoffs, proving he can play in big games. He is still looking for offer #1 to roll in.
[player_tooltip player_id="42957" first="CJ" last="Tiller"], 6’2" 190lbs, Williams Field ’23
Tiller is a big time 2023 QB with a very high ceiling, and having standout 2023 WR [player_tooltip player_id="42924" first="Kyler" last="Kasper"] to throw to definitely helps out his chances at being one of the top QB’s in 6A ball. Tiller has a very raw skillset with numerous intangibles. He throws well off play action and delivers with a quick release. Excellent deep ball passer as he possesses solid arm strength with a good trajectory. He’s shown the ability to extend plays and deliver off-platform throws, or pick up yards on his feet if he needs to. He holds an offer form Northern Arizona and will continue to see the offers flood in throughout his high school career.
[player_tooltip player_id="42829" first="EJ" last="Warner"], 6’0" 195lbs, Brophy
Warner comes off a short 2020 season where he suffered a season ending injury during week 1 against Notre Dame Prep. He displays solid mechanics in the pocket while scanning the field and going through his progression and delivers with a fluid release. He hits throws with timing and accuracy and has shown the ability to finesse throws in between or over defenders with superb touch. He holds 6 offers thus far, but it’s only the beginning for Warner. He has yet to scratch the surface of his potential given an injured 2020 season, therefore, he’ll enter 2021 with a chip on his shoulder as I believe Warner will bust loose and put up big time numbers this fall.
