The newly minted Two Rivers High School is excited to begin play this fall. There are a couple of reasons for the excitement in Mendota Heights and West St. Paul. First, the Warriors broke a long losing streak last season and were very competitive with a 2 and 5 record, with several close games in the mix. Secondly, and most importantly, the Warriors return close to 30 seniors this fall. Some seniors of note are:
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="116468" first="Adam" last="Lail"] - 6´6¨, 225 lbs - OT</strong></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="116468" first="Adam" last="Lail"] moved to Tackle from Tight End before last season resulting in a much-improved running game for Two Rivers. Being extremely smart and technically sound, Lail provides stability and experience. A 3-year starter in football, basketball, and lacrosse, he is drawing interest from various levels of College Football including virtually every school in the MIAC.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="49861" first="Evan" last="Coffey"] - 5´10¨, 180 lbs - QB</strong></span>
Tapped to call the signals on offense is [player_tooltip player_id="49861" first="Evan" last="Coffey"]. Also a basketball and lacrosse player, he started 3 games as a sophomore for the Warriors. As an ultra-competitor with a remarkably high football IQ, he brings leadership and command to the offense. Coffey is an extremely accurate passer in the short/intermediate passing game and also punts and holds for Two Rivers. Coffey has drawn interest from Augsburg, Minot State, and several NAIA schools.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Jacob Robrahn - 6´3¨, 270 lbs - OT</strong></span>
Robrahn has worked extremely hard to make himself into a solid high school football player. A strong presence on and off the field, Robrahn is expected to be a leader on the Warrior offensive line.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="116481" first="Eric" last="Lail"] - 6´3¨, 205 lbs - LB</strong></span>
Lail, a very cerebral player who has a nose for the ball, thrives on being in the right spot for the multi-look Warrior defense. A competitor for the Warrior basketball and lacrosse teams as well, he is being recruited by a variety of Division III schools.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>DeeJay Propps - 5´10¨, 200lbs - LB</strong></span>
Propps is a 3-year starter on the Warrior defense and is poised to assume a starring linebacker role for Two Rivers again this fall. Propps, also a basketball and baseball player, is an experienced, athletic tough-dude who has good awareness for the ball.
<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Ben Kritsberg - 5´9¨, 175 lbs - RB/LB</span></strong>
Kritsberg saw some time on the defense last year and looks to increase his role this season. He is also an all-conference sprinter in track and field.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Abe Mogelson - 5´10¨, 175 lbs - CB. </strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 1rem;">Abe was all-conference as a sophomore but was r</span>obbed of his junior season by injury, He is eager to resume his role as an all-conference caliber corner. Don’t be surprised to see Mogelson contribute in a variety of positions for the Two Rivers offense,
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Brett Velander - 6´0¨, 225 lbs - DL</strong></span>
Velander is an extremely physical player who competes with a high level of intensity. Velander, a 3-year starter and a big part of the Two Rivers defense, has already received an offer from Augsburg.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Cody Sommer - 5´10¨, 170 lbs - C</strong></span>
Sommer has improved tremendously over the course of his career. Paired with Mogelson at the corner, the warriors are in very solid shape in the secondary.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Tate Goaley - 6´4¨, 200 lbs - LB</strong></span>
<span style="font-size: 1rem;">He has exceptional speed and plays with an aggressive intensity that is contagious on the defense. </span>Goaley, who missed time with an injury last season, is poised to have a breakout season that is sure to pique the interest of recruiters at all levels.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Aj Boyken - 6´0¨, 180 lb - Kicker</strong></span>
Boyken plays soccer and will kick game nights for the Warriors. He has been remarkably impressive in summer workouts.
In an article that was only supposed to focus on the seniors, I couldn´t resist reporting on this next young man:
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Max Mogelson - 6´3¨, 235 lbs - DE (Sophomore)</strong></span>
As a freshman, Mogelson earned all-conference honors at Defensive End, secured a starting Forward spot on the basketball team, and was also a powerful bat in the Warrior baseball program. Warrior fans should be very excited to see what he brings as a sophomore. Mogelson <span style="font-size: 1rem;">is a legitimate blossoming superstar!</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;"> </span>
Two Rivers High School, led by Head Coach Tom Orth, will open up their season on September 2nd at home vs Tartan.
