Obviously not as big as the 2022 update, many new players will present themselves as elite prospects come the 2021 season. Showcasing during the summer counts for something, but when those pads are on its a whole other level of competitiveness. As a scout, we look for how you respond to adversity and how much of a leader you are, not just stats and big plays. The most important traits are the ones that happen on the sidelines, trying to decide if a player would fit well in a program that wants culture to be their foundation. Taking a look at the 2023 rankings, these five recruits stuck out the most and are going to be highly recruited players come the Fall.
Jalen Thompson Jalen Thompson 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Cass Tech | 2023 State MI takes the top spot
It’s not surprise to see a Cass Tech player as the top ranked player for 2023. The culture with the Technicians is impeccable and a big reason you see players get big time schools to offer them. Thompson has a ton of length at 6’3 and can perform in the run game and the pass game. With continued growth, don’t be surprised to see him as a top player not just in Michigan, but nationally.
Expect Dante Moore Dante Moore 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Detroit King | 2023 State MI to be heavily recruited
With a mix of running ability and a strong arm, it’s not surprising that Moore ends up QB1 on our rankings. He’s a playmaker in every sense of the word and can create on his own, much to the liking of college recruiters. He has 26 offers currently from top programs across the country, and you shouldn’t expect them to stop offering the young quarterback anytime soon. Moore will continue to light up MHSAA programs this season and gain more attention from big time schools.

Cole Dellinger Cole Dellinger 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Clarkston | 2023 State MI set for a big year
With 5 offers currently including Michigan, Michigan State, and LSU, Dellinger’s stock is already high and growing. There’s room for him to get even bigger before his senior season, and he should gain more attention in the 2021 campaign. He has the strength inside that division one programs should covet with good technique that can overpower defensive linemen.
Dylan Senda Dylan Senda 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Divine Child | 2023 State MI is Divine Childs next top recruit
Senda is getting the attention of many top Midwestern schools including Iowa, Cincinnati, Indiana, and Michigan State. It’s no surprise that he’s a hot commodity when you turn on his film. His raw power and big frame standout immediately and are a big reason his offer sheet will continue to grow as he enters his junior season. He has the size to play all three spots on the offensive line which college coaches value highly.

Bruce Williams Bruce Williams 6'3" | 235 lbs | DL Huron | 2023 State MI is DL3
A name that came up late in my process is Williams. He has some impressive ability on the defensive line, which is showcased by his six division one offers. He plays physical and has an edge of nastiness that stands out to me as a scout. If he can continue to put on weight and get stronger in his junior and senior seasons, I don’t think we’ve reached his ceiling yet. Impressive player that should get a ton of attention in the coming seasons.
