THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES
First Offer Alert!
Two 2023 prospects and three prospects overall earned their first offers within the last week. It started with Jenks 2023 athlete [player_tooltip player_id="157457" first="Jalyn" last="Stanford"] picking up an offer from Iowa State. Before the offer, you could make the argument that Stanford was a candidate for breakout star for the Trojans after a phenomenal spring. He was a two-way force when we saw him in person. However, Iowa State pulled the trigger and now Stanford will certainly be more widely known going into the season. But look for him to fill the void left by [player_tooltip player_id="48281" first="Grant" last="Lohr"] when it comes to running back and safety.
Over the weekend, Edmond North 2023 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="115684" first="Sedrick" last="Frazier"] picked up an offer from Tulsa. The speedy Husky receiver was camping at TU and before he left the camp, the Golden Hurricane gave him his first offer. Frazier is a 2023 prospect that we really like as an under the radar receiver. He doesn’t have prototypical size for a wideout but he’s one of the fastest receivers we’ve seen in person and has some of the best hands to go along with that speed and quickness.
The final first offer also came over the weekend and it might be one of the earliest offers to an Oklahoma prospect ever. It’s certainly one of the earliest offers in the last decade. Jenks 2025 quarterback Shaker Reisig, yes, 2025, was camping at San Jose State and earned an offer before he even began his freshman year of high school. We’ve seen Reisig several times in person and we’ll admit, he’s the real deal and has the chance to be pretty special. But even we were surprised that he earned an offer at this point.
Five Offer Week For Tease
Once things got started last week for Booker T Washington 2023 standout [player_tooltip player_id="47959" first="Micah" last="Tease"], they were nearly impossible to slow down. Tease picked up five offers in the span of a few days. He had one offer from Pittsburgh going into last week and he picked up five more in the blink of an eye. It all began after he camped at Notre Dame last weekend. Two days later, the Irish would offer Tease and that would spark the offer avalanche.
Following Notre Dame, Tease earned offers from Iowa State, Texas Tech, Florida and Tulsa. Tease was without a doubt the hottest recruit in Oklahoma over the last seven days. One reason behind that was the fact that Tease might end up playing on the defensive side of the ball. He’s been working as a defensive back over the last two months and that will certainly give him more versatility and allow him to bring more abilities to the table when it comes to his recruitment. He’s been an outstanding wide receiver over the last two years for the Hornets. But he might be their next two-way phenom.
OU Extends Two Offers
OU has been very busy over the last week with hosting visitors, both unofficial and official and also having the first of several camps. After one of their camps, they offered one of the best wide receivers in Oklahoma’s 2022 class with Broken Arrow wideout [player_tooltip player_id="61133" first="Robert" last="Spears-Jennings"]. The dynamic BA receiver tweeted out that OU had offered following a workout in Norman. OU already has a commitment from the top receiver in the state’s 2022 class with Edmond Santa Fe’s [player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"].
Over the weekend, one of the many visitors to the Norman campus was Del City 2024 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="110735" first="David" last="Stone"]. The young phenom picked up an offer from the Sooners during his unofficial visit to campus in a weekend where he visited both OU and OSU. He now has offers from both schools. Stone is without a doubt the best prospect in Oklahoma’s 2024 class. He was rated as such in our recent 2024 ranking update last week. A lot can change between now and 2024 but Stone has a firm grip on the top spot and it’ll take a lot to bump him off.
