There was a wide range of quarterback talent at the Canton showcase. All classes were represented well and there was no lack of competitive spirit. Throwing in the heat for over three hours was no problem for these quarterbacks who performed at a very high level.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="126476" first="Evan" last="Unruh"] 6’0” 175 Lima Central Catholic 2022</strong>
Unruh has made is presence felt all over the Midwest at various camps and showcases this off season. He continually performs at a high level and is always one of the top quarterbacks, and that was also the case in Canton this past Saturday. Evan has a quick release, fits the football in small windows, and has a nice touch on the deep ball.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="160224" first="Jackson" last="Johnson"] 6’0” 175 Salem 2023</strong>
This southpaw from Salem, Ohio throws a tight spiral with both accuracy and velocity. Johnson is active in the pocket, stepping up and delivering the football while under pressure. He can throw extremely well when sprinting out and puts the ball on target even on the move. It is easy to see why Johnson threw for nearly 4,000 yards last season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="92620" first="Kaden" last="Holmes"] 5’10” 170 Fremont Ross 2023</strong>
Holmes, despite his size, is a very good and athletic quarterback. He throws a tight football and has all the intangibles to excel at Fremont Ross. If you watch Holmes on film, you can see how talented of a dual-threat quarterback he his. Holmes can turn an apparent loss into a big play by the way he maneuvers in space. The good thing, he still has two seasons left for Ross.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="160203" first="Mack" last="Keenan"] 6’5” 210 Westlake 2022</strong>
Keenan is just now coming into his own as a standout quarterback. He is physically intimidating as he stands tall in the pocket working out of the spread offense. Keenan is best when throwing vertical routes where he hits receivers in stride with consistency. He is also a hard running quarterback who is tough to tackle due to his size and strength.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="126701" first="Brandon" last="Mielke"] 5’11” 175 Oregon Clay 2024</strong>
Mielke is only a sophomore this fall and doesn’t really have any varsity experience, but he was very impressive Saturday in Canton. He throws tight spiral and his timing was exceptional in hitting receivers as they broke out of their routes in the one-on-one competition. Mielke shows maturity and poise for a young quarterback.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="152367" first="Tyler" last="Tusai"] 6’4” 195 Padua Franciscan 2024</strong>
Tusai is another young quarterback who shows great potential and performed admirably at the Canton showcase. He is a tall and rangy athlete who can put the ball on the money to his receivers even when tightly covered. With continued work on skill development and foot quickness, Tusai can excel as a high school quarterback.
