Because these prospects are currently freshman in high school, there has been no need for most coaches to even look at their film or give them consideration. With this, due to the NCAA contact rules and guidelines, most of these players, regardless of how much they have shined, have not received as much attention as they will over the next few years. Lucky enough for you, we at Prep Redzone have already started taking a look at these prospects due to wanting to get an early jump on who they are, and what makes them standout. Because of this, we present to you some of the 2024 recruiting standouts that we have noticed throughout the state of Georgia already. Each of these prospects will also be worth tracking over the coming years to see what becomes of their recruitment.
Andrew Hines (DE/TE)- Woodward
Hines, who measures in at about 6’1, and 200 pounds, has already shown great ability as a freshman. He not only has the ideal length for his age, but has a good burst off of the ball. While he is a bit unpolished due to his age and experience playing at the high school level, we certainly feel that he can further develop efficiently as time goes by. With this, we also feel that he has a bit of a pop when he makes contact with ball carriers. While we would like to see him roll his hips better on contact, we feel that his size makes up for it at this current stage of his development. He also extends his arm well on contact, and gains good separation from linemen as he rushes the passer. As he goes int his second high school season, look for him to add weight, and further develop in fluidity and athleticism.
Christopher Martin (QB)- Fitzgerald
Watching Christopher Martin’s freshman tape as a QB is exciting in itself because you can begin to think of what he can become in the coming years. Not only does he have good ball placement, but he has a clean release, disciplined stance in the pocket, and a great ability to play the QB position at a young age. Martin also shows that he has a decently strong arm as well, and a quick release. He makes his first read well, and is a great reactionary player. With this, we love his arm strength, accuracy, and ability to be mobile enough to keep the defense off balance. We would like to see him develop a little bit in his intermediate passes, and deep posts, but we certainly feel that this will be more polished in the coming years as he physically develops.
Jalyn Crawford (WR/CB)- Parkview
Crawford, regardless of his age, has already become a huge contributor to his team’s success. As a WR, he shows an ability to not only catch the ball cleanly with his hands, but to explosively gain yards and make big plays. Crawford also moves very fluidly, and can be seen to have an athletic build. What is even more exciting is that he shows to be a great defensive prospect as well, as he is good out of his breaks, and is fluid when changing direction and flipping his hips. He is able to stay in the hip pocket of WR’s, which allows him to consistently be in good place to make plays. Going into next season, look for him to continue to elevate his ability to play at a high level, as he will certainly become a game changing prospect.
Corey Richardson (RB/CB)- Whitewater
Richardson, who has already gained playing time as a freshman, has managed to be very effective in the running game, and as a CB. Not only does he have very quick feet, but he shows the ability to be a very fast runner, and change direction well, which certainly works well for him on both sides of the ball. While he is a bit smaller due to his age, he certainly plays larger than his frame. He has explosive ability, and twitch, which often times results in big plays on offense, and even big pass break ups on defense. Expect Richardson to continue to be a key component to Whitewater’s offense in the coming years, especially as he grows in height and frame.
