Hector Magana, 6’2″ 175lbs, Woodlake HS (C/O 2021)
Magana is a two-way standout at DB and WR for Woodlake and proved to be a ball hawk DB last season with 5 INT’s. He shows a sold change of direction with a very good break on the ball, showing a nice burst. He has solid route and play recognition to put himself in position to frequently blow up plays. Magana has displayed solid overall speed in pursuit to track down ball carriers and prevent big time plays. He has shown good ball skills all around and can continue to develop into a promising DB.
Damien Espinoza, 5’9″ 150lbs, Chavez HS (C/O 2022)
Not the biggest kid on the field, but consistently flies sideline to sideline to make plays. He racked up 81 tackles last season establishing himself as an effective tackler and provided solid coverage, making him a balanced DB. He has a good understanding of zone responsibilities and can man up on the slot. He shows good hand placement on receivers to force PBU’s without drawing a P.I. call. Espinoza does an excellent job in recognizing crossing receivers with the play flow on designed rollouts or scrambles to lock them down. He played a major role in numerous coverage sacks on film.
Dom D’Amato, 6’1″ 175lbs, Garces Memorial HS (C/O 2021)
D’Amato racked up 6 INT’s as a junior last season. He is an excellent cover safety with solid range and ball skills. He reads the QB well and plays the ball well in the back half of the field. Solid understanding of responsibilities and can turn and run with receivers trying to stretch the field. He is a threat to take any INT to the house as he possesses solid speed and is a playmaker with the ball in his hands. Definitely a kid to get on your radar.
Kevin Chavez, 6’1″ 200lbs, Wasco HS (C/O 2021)
Chavez has a strong, athletic build with good strength in both his upper and lower half. He has shown a good striking ability if he gets squared up with ball carrier. He is a solid tackler one on one and in the open field as he prevented multiple big runs and potentially TD saving plays as a junior. He does a good job in zone coverage and shows good ball skills all around, as he is also a soft handed receiver. He could improve hip flexibility to react and change direction quicker, but his frame and athleticism gives him a high ceiling going forward.
Jovanny Garcia, 5’8″ 150lbs, Santa Maria HS (C/O 2021)
Garcia is a scrappy CB that can be productive in both the pass and run game. He accumulated 53 tackles as a CB and does a great job wrapping up ball carriers. For a kid his size, he shows solid physicality to take on and shed blocks effectively. Garcia possesses good short area quickness an closes ground well as a tackler. He can continue to add size and strength, but has the athleticism to play ball at the D3 level.
