Now, it’s time to announce this year’s Most Improved Player. This is a little different than our Breakout Stars feature. Breakout Stars are players that weren’t really on our radar back in August. The Most Improved Player is a good player that turned into a great player and in this case, one of the best in the state. Our Most Improved Player for the 2020 season is Bishop McGuinness senior quarterback

Tarman went from being one of the better quarterbacks in 5A to one of the best overall athletes in Oklahoma. The Irish were coming off a championship appearance in 2019 and we’ll admit it, we thought McGuinness would rebuild in 2020. We had them as a borderline top ten team in the preseason. Tarman made it clear very early on that the Irish would still be one of the main contenders in 5A football. Throwing for over 2,000 yards and running for over 2,000 yards as well, Tarman would put the Irish on his back and carry them to another state championship game.
The Irish would once again run into Carl Albert and the Titans would once again raise the gold ball but there was no doubt that Tarman was arguably the best player on the field and was one of the best players in Oklahoma this season. Bishop McGuinness was not supposed to play for another state championship but Tarman would not be denied.
