Get 25% off your subscription by entering Knight25 in the coupon code area. Enjoy! We've updated our 2022 prospect rankings with the Top 100 juniors in Oklahoma. You can check out the complete rankings RIGHT HERE. Right now, we're taking a look and putting a spotlight on five quarterbacks that have made their way onto our rankings with their play on the field this season. This list includes a few new faces as well as a couple that most should be familiar with at this point as they are some of the best in the state. Stay dialed into Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2022 content to be dropping over the course of the next week! [player_tooltip player_id="101415" first="Ty" last="Pennington"] - Sand Springs (#97 Overall) The first of our newcomers on this list is Sand Springs' [player_tooltip player_id="101415" first="Ty" last="Pennington"]. Ty was one of the most productive Juniors in 2020 with close to 3000 total yards and 28 total TDs. He is not as polished from a pure passing standpoint as some of the QBs above him are, but he has most, if not all, of the traits you look for in a college QB. He has good size at 6'1", a good arm with encouraging eye discipline and accuracy when the play breaks down around him, and he has a true gunslinger mentality. He never gives up on a play and isn't afraid to deliver a strike downfield while faced with pressure. With another offseason to refine his game, Ty has a chance to move up a few spots by the end of next season. [player_tooltip player_id="101412" first="Kane" last="Donovan"] - John Marshall (#83 Overall) The next QB is another newcomer, [player_tooltip player_id="101412" first="Kane" last="Donovan"]. Kane was a first-year starter at QB for John Marshall this season and while it may not show in the Win column or on the stat sheet, there's a lot to like about Kane's game and his future with John Marshall. Kane was a bit inconsistent at times in 2020 but was at his best when he had time to sit and deliver on time to his targets. He has good arm strength and has flashed some nice touch and the ability to layer the ball in between defenders on short and intermediate throws. He did not have a ton of rushing success in 2020, however, he showed plenty of times that he has the athleticism and eye discipline to extend plays with his legs when needed. Similar to Pennington, talent and ability are not necessarily an issue with Kane, the question's with him are more on if he can learn from his mistakes in 2020 and become a more consistent QB in 2021. [player_tooltip player_id="61144" first="Scott" last="Pfieffer"] - Edmond Santa Fe (#45 Overall) A familiar face on this list, [player_tooltip player_id="61144" first="Scott" last="Pfieffer"], lived up to the expectations set out by the Santa Fe coaching staff at the beginning of this season and then some. Pfieffer threw for over 2300 yards and nearly 30 TDs while only throwing 9 INTs and completing close to 70% of his passes. This loaded Santa Fe offense did not miss a beat with Pfieffer at the helm, however, some questions did arise after his up and down performance against Jenks in the State Championship. Pfieffer has shown that he can lead and take command of an offense at a high level, so the issue is not his consistency or reliability, but more on if he can take his game to the next level and be the reason Santa Fe wins in big games instead of being just one of them. While he will still have the top returning WR in the state, [player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"], he will have to step up and elevate his game with key playmakers such as [player_tooltip player_id="38657" first="Ethane" last="Hyche"], [player_tooltip player_id="61222" first="Micah" last="Snoddy"], and [player_tooltip player_id="38505" first="Angelo" last="Rankin Jr."] graduating this spring. We're really excited to see what Pfieffer can do when the offense will rely more on him and the passing game in 2021. [player_tooltip player_id="52787" first="Max" last="Brown"] - Lincoln Christian (#41 Overall) Similar to Pfieffer and Donovan, [player_tooltip player_id="52787" first="Max" last="Brown"] was a first-year starter at QB for Lincoln Christian in 2020 and he quickly made a case for himself as one of the best QBs in the class. His stats in the passing game might not show it because of the games where he split time early in the season, but Max was one of the most explosive passers and one of the best rushing QBs in the state this season, averaging close to 19 yards per completion and 6.5 yards per carry, both of which are near the top for QBs. It was obvious that Max improved each game as he became more and more comfortable in Lincoln Christian's system, so I can only imagine that he's going to come out firing on all cylinders next year, especially after coming up short in the state championship game in 2020. [player_tooltip player_id="38671" first="Carson" last="May"] - Jones (#5 Overall) Our last QB on this list is one that has truly separated himself from the rest of the pack and is without a doubt the top prospect at his position with the majority of the class of 2021 signed and set to graduate. Questions surrounding him entering this season were similar to the ones surrounding [player_tooltip player_id="52787" first="Max" last="Brown"] and [player_tooltip player_id="61144" first="Scott" last="Pfieffer"] for next year, but he has silenced most of those as he was even better this season than he was in 2019. He cut down on his INTs, he threw for more yards and TDs, he showed off his ability as a rusher with over 600 yards on the ground, and his already impressive arm talent was even more impressive in 2020 than it was in 2019. Quite frankly, I'm shocked that his recruitment hasn't blown up yet, but I'm sure it's coming sooner rather than later.
