Despite the score, it was only a two score game at halftime, and could have easily been a one score possession if Shadow Ridge could’ve punched it in from the 1 right before half. Shadow Ridge moved the ball all night, and could’ve had at least 2 more scores. Overall, a big win for Boulder Creek as they secured the 6A Southwest Region. There was some serious athleticism on the field tonight from both teams. Take a look at 5 offensive standouts from the Shadow Ridge @ Boulder Creek game:
Offensive MVP: Bear Milacek Bear Milacek 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ , QB, Boulder Creek (C/O 2021)
Milacek went off on Friday night with 3 rushing TD’s and 1 passing TD. The first of his rushing was a QB sneak, the 2nd was about a 5 yard QB power, and the 3rd rushing TD was 4 yard QB run where cut between two defenders an took a big hit in the end zone to score. In the air, he dropped a dime on a vert route to Jacob Cisneros Jacob Cisneros 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ on a flea flicker for about a 30 yard TD. Milacek showed excellent poise all night and stepped up in the pocket well. He showed good touch on his throws and was able to frequently hit his receivers in stride. As a ball carrier, he had good vision and showed very good ball security. The New Mexico commit has been balling out all season, and will be a fun player to follow through the playoffs.
Jacob Cisneros Jacob Cisneros 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ , RB, Boulder Creek (C/O 2021)
Cisneros was the best all around athlete on the field Friday and showed it with his 2 total TD’s and his repetitive big play ability. Cisneros totaled 133 yards rushing, 66 receiving yards with a TD, and a 60 yard kick return for a TD. His explosiveness is lethal from any position. He accelerates through holes very well, and his lateral speed and agility is dangerous as he can easily slip and weave through defenders. He has receiver type hands and is just as big of a threat through the air as he is on the ground as he caught about 30 yard vert for a TD from an outside receiver position. Shadow Ridge planned for and tried to avoid Cisneros all night, and he was able to fly up and steal a pooch kick and take it 60 yards down the sideline for six. Cisneros holds offers from Ivy League schools as well as some FCS. However, Cisneros is a legit D1 talent and deserves some serious attention, as he is the possible “Arizona Player Of The Year” but holds no FBS level offers. Do not sleep on this kid.
Seth Gallardo, QB, Shadow Ridge (C/O 2022)
Gallardo is a solid dual threat QB who consistently made plays to drive Shadow Ridge down the field. On the first series of the game, he threw about a 70 yard strike on a post to Isaac Yates for a TD. He threw his 2nd TD of the night on an intermediate crossing route to Zachary Sutton for a 9 yard score. He is a legit playmaker as he oftentimes would take off and run and juke his way for first downs. At 5’8″ 150lbs, Gallardo plays with no fear and is a Kyler Murray type guy for Shadow Ridge. He delivered accurate balls on the move in both directions, and also showed the ability to throw a strike on a field side deep out route. He still has much room to put on size and will mature the next year, and is definitely a solid NAIA-D2 type guy to watch.
Isaac Yates, WR, Shadow Ridge (C/O 2022)
Yates was the main target for Gallardo, and was very effective. He beat a corner on a post route and was able to catch about a 70 yard TD. Yates has good second level speed and was able to generate good separation coming out of his routes. He did a good job of getting upfield after the catch without too much dancing. He showed to have a pretty good understanding on how to set up his routes, and definitely has room to mature as a receiver and put on size. The Gallardo to Yates combo will definitely be an electric connection next season, as he is a solid player to keep an eye on.
Jacob Moore Jacob Moore 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ , OL, Boulder Creek, (C/O 2021)
Moore was a bully all night by consistently driving the Shadow Ridge D-Linemen and opening up big gaps for Milacek and Cisneros. Moore was excellent in pass protection as nobody even sniffed Milacek. Moore was frequently driving his opponents into the box and the second level. He plays aggressive and mean and is the lineman you would want to protect your QB. He showed an excellent football IQ by picking up stunts. He had a brutal pancake block where he absolutely rocked a Shadow Ridge defender to help Milacek run for 20+ yard gain. He has a mean second level blocking ability and finishes every block. He has an athletic base and build at 6’3″ 295lbs, and is an easy D2 talent right now, and continues to rise his stock every week.
