The Dutch will go into the playoffs as the team to beat behind an extremely balanced offense and arguably one of the best defensive units in the state, regardless of class. They’re averaging 47 points per game while only giving up 27 points all season. The defense has had three shutouts and no team has scored more than seven points against the Dutch. Their closest game was a 31-7 victory over Berryhill. For the Dutch, this season began a new era as it was their first year in Class 3A. Despite the new challenge of moving up from 2A, the Dutch felt confident coming into this season with all the players that they returned from last year’s team, that went 9-3 and lost to Washington in the 2A second round. The two losses in the regular season came to the two teams that played for the 2A title in Metro Christian and Vian. Fast forward to this season and the Dutch have been dominant. They close out the regular season on Friday on the road against Inola. The only test they did not pass this year was one that was incomplete. A district clash against Vinita was cancelled due to Covid. Vinita is still unbeaten in district play. They play Verdigris on Friday night. The Dutch just blew out Verdigris 52-7. Check out the highlights from their win RIGHT HERE. It’s a great time to be a fan of Holland Hall as they have a dominant team this year and have plenty of talent in future classes. It appears that the Dutch are here to stay as serious contenders every year. Check out our Individual Spotlight below for more of a breakdown on some of the individuals that have shined for the Dutch this year. INDIVIDUAL SPOTLIGHT [player_tooltip player_id="61135" first="Ethan" last="Roush"] - 2022 - Athlete We have him listed as an athlete right here because even after seeing him in person, we’re not sure what the future holds for [player_tooltip player_id="61135" first="Ethan" last="Roush"]. The junior prospect is listed as a wide receiver in his player profile but he shined as a safety on Friday night. He finished the game with three interceptions on defense and is getting close to ten INT’s for the season. On offense, he had somewhat of a quiet night at the wide receiver position. Watching Roush on tape, we thought he might be better off as a wide receiver but after looking at him in person, we’re not so sure at this point. As a safety, Roush showcases a lot of skills. He has good size, can run all over the field and is very open to coming downfield and helping in the run game. Roush is a physical player and while we are unsure about his natural fit at the next level, we are sure about one thing. Roush is one of the more versatile athletes in the 2022 class. [player_tooltip player_id="38756" first="Jordan" last="Nolin"] - 2022 - Offensive Lineman We knew that Holland Hall had some talented players in the 2022 class but we walked away on Friday night thinking this ’22 group was a lot deeper than anticipated. A great example of that is [player_tooltip player_id="38756" first="Jordan" last="Nolin"] along the offensive line. The junior was impressive in their win over Verdigris and really showcased his skillset at the right tackle position. Holland Hall is in good hands moving forward with Nolin as the anchor for this offensive line. And one thing that can be overlooked is the type of teammate a prospect is. Standing on the Holland Hall sideline, we witnessed as Nolin was one of the more vocal players while his defense was on the field. Nolin was going up against a Verdigris defense that has been good this season. The Dutch had no problems moving the ball in the running game and Nolin had a lot to do with that. He was one of a few players that we didn’t know much about coming in but we walked away very impressed. [player_tooltip player_id="63294" first="Marc" last="Gouldsby"] - 2021 - Wide Receiver Looking back at where we have senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="63294" first="Marc" last="Gouldsby"] in our recent 2021 rankings, I noticed two things. One, the wide receiver class is very deep and includes a lot of talented players still available. Two, Gouldsby should be a higher rated overall prospect. After getting a chance to see him in person, we’re convinced that he’s an electric player that would be good in a slot role at the next level. Gouldsby has been Holland Hall’s home run threat this season. He caught a pair of touchdowns in their blowout win over Verdigris. He isn’t the tallest prospect but he’s built well and shouldn’t be considered small. He can take hits and has the strength to bounce off defenders. We were really impressed with several prospects on Friday but Gouldsby certainly stood out as an offensive weapon that needs to be on more radars. He also has the potential to be a help as a punt returner in special teams. [player_tooltip player_id="67237" first="Nick" last="Jones"] - 2022 - Linebacker Yet another 2022 prospect that emerged on Friday night when we saw them in person was linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="67237" first="Nick" last="Jones"]. Similar to the breakdown on Gouldsby, Jones is absolutely built and has the potential to be a cannonball of a linebacker. And Jones just adds more depth to the linebacker position in this 2022 class. If you’re a defensive coach in college, you have a great opportunity to get several big time linebackers over the next few seasons. That position just continues to get deeper and deeper. I was very impressed with Jones and the physical attributes that he plays with. However, I’m more excited to see what Jones does next season. Stay with me here. He’s playing behind [player_tooltip player_id="38533" first="Owen" last="Ostroski"], who is one of the more dominant defensive linemen in the state. I’m excited to see what Jones can do when he doesn’t have Ostroski in front of him. Remember this name because he could become a star next season. [player_tooltip player_id="61125" first="NuNu" last="Campbell"] - 2022 - Defensive Back One thing I pride myself on is transparency when it comes to my work. And I’ll be honest right here, when it came to Friday’s game against Verdigris, I had a list of players I was excited to see but sitting at the top was junior cornerback [player_tooltip player_id="61125" first="NuNu" last="Campbell"]. I’m on the record with Campbell that he’s the next top cover corner to come out of the Tulsa metro area. However, that analysis was based on film alone. After seeing Campbell in person on Friday, I think that he could be even better. He has the size, speed and skills to be a top ten overall prospect in the junior class. While it’s somewhat safe to say that nobody will overtake Booker T Washington’s [player_tooltip player_id="38668" first="Gentry" last="Williams"] as the top DB in the 2021 class, I do think that Campbell has solidified his spot as the #2 DB in the class. There is a lot to like in Campbell’s game and not much to critique at this point. He’s a defensive name that will need to be circled when it comes to the 2022 class. [player_tooltip player_id="38533" first="Owen" last="Ostroski"] - 2021 - Defensive Lineman When it comes to the talent on this Holland Hall team, the one name that always gets brought up first is senior [player_tooltip player_id="38533" first="Owen" last="Ostroski"]. Coming into the season, Ostroski was going to be a name to watch after the serious amount of work he put in during the offseason. As a junior, Ostroski played all over the field for the Dutch. This season, he’s primarily lined up as a defensive end and he’s become one of the more destructive forces in the state. When you watch Ostroski, you start to feel bad for opponents as linemen get tossed like a rag doll, followed by quarterbacks and running backs getting planted into the backfield. Ostroski is certainly on the short list of 2021 prospects who have taken a massive jump from junior to senior season and when it comes to recruiting, the stock is soaring up. The Dutch standout just absolutely wears opponents down, forcing the need for double teams and sometimes even more than that. [player_tooltip player_id="38568" first="Wallace" last="Clark"] - 2021 - Quarterback Last, but certainly not least, is the guy that makes this Holland Hall offense go. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38568" first="Wallace" last="Clark"] has a bright future on the baseball diamond as an Oklahoma baseball commit. However, we can’t help but be impressed with the way he commands this Holland Hall offense. The attribute that stands out the most is the game IQ that he plays with. You never have to worry about Clark making a big mistake that will cost your team. He isn’t the biggest quarterback prospect but he showed off his ability to throw it and run the ball in their win over Verdigris. He finished with four passing touchdowns and two more scores on the ground. With his baseball background, Clark obviously has a strong arm and can make throws that a lot of other QB prospects can’t make. Right now it looks like Clark is headed to college for baseball, but we still think he’s a top ten quarterback prospect in this 2021 class.
