Enjoy! The second round of the playoffs is in the books so it is time to highlight Friday night’s top performers. This week we saw an offensive explosion for the most part across all classes, with a few exceptions on the defensive side. Take a look at who stepped up in the playoffs for their team in the second round. Class 6A-I [player_tooltip player_id="61140" first="Deshawn" last="Kinnard"] - Owasso Owasso has been dominant all season and it was no different against Mustang. In their 45-7 win over the Broncos, Junior RB Kinnard was a big play machine as he had 110 yards and a TD off 5 carries to go along with a 70-yard TD reception. The Rams next game will be in the semi-finals where they will face Jenks for the first time since the 2019 State Championship where they topped the Trojans 14-6. [player_tooltip player_id="61144" first="Scott" last="Pfieffer"] - Edmond Santa Fe Edmond Santa Fe’s run game has made their offense go in big games throughout the season, however, while they were still able to run against Westmoore, it was Pfieffer and the passing attack that took charge in this game. Pfieffer went 20-23 through the air with 318 yards and finished with 5 TDs. Santa Fe is peaking at the right time and will take on Union Saturday night for a spot in the state championship. [player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"] - Edmond Santa Fe As stated above, Santa Fe’s passing game was on point against Westmoore, so you already know that [player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"] had a big night. The Junior wideout finished the night with 178 yards and 2 touchdowns off 8 catches. The Wolves will definitely need Shettron to have a similar performance against the red hot Union Redskins if they want to make their first State Championship game since 2003. Class 6A-II [player_tooltip player_id="51855" first="DeAngelo" last="Irvin Jr"] - Midwest City Midwest City has one of the most athletic defenses in the state and has steadily improved into a dangerous offense that is led by [player_tooltip player_id="51855" first="DeAngelo" last="Irvin Jr"]. In their big win over Booker T Washington, Irvin did it through the air with 230 yds and 3 TDs, and on the ground with 77 yards off 9 carries. Their chances against Bixby may look slim, but they may have a shot if they can minimize the turnovers that have plagued them all season. [player_tooltip player_id="38679" first="Braylin" last="Presley"] - Bixby Speaking of Bixby, I need to stop acting like any team has any shot at stopping [player_tooltip player_id="38679" first="Braylin" last="Presley"]. Last week, I wrote that Del City, a team with an LB core full of current or future division 1 commits, had a shot at containing Presley if they played to their ability. Instead, Presley did what he has done all season, and that is produce at a high level. He finished their route of the Eagles with 111 yards and 2 touchdowns rushing, and 76 yards and 2 touchdowns receiving. He has proven this year that he is virtually matchup proof and that his size does not matter as he has beat defenders who will be playing on Saturdays week in and week out. Next up on his list is an athletic and talented Midwest City team in the semi-finals. Class 5A Erik Mccarty - McAlester I wrote a few weeks ago about how the emergence of McAlester’s young backfield could carry them deep into the playoffs and so far it has. In their shocking blowout of Pryor, the Sophomore RB ran for 134 yards and 4 TDs on 14 carries. This next round will be interesting for the Buffaloes run game as Mccarty and McAlester’s next test will come against a very motivated and Senior led El Reno team who allowed just 14 points and forced 6 fumbles against a Piedmont team who had run the ball with a lot of success up to that game. Class 4A Jayden Seebold - Tuttle Tuttle had a much needed big night in the passing game in their game against Newcastle that was a little closer than expected. Seebold went 22-31 passing for 291 yards and 2 TDs. Tuttle will need another big offensive showing as they take on Wagoner in the quarterfinals this week. Colby Langford - Blanchard Blanchard had a field day offensively against Tecumseh and it all started with their dual-threat QB Colby Langford. Langford had 150 yards and a TD passing, as well as 117 yards and 2 TDs rushing on 13 carries. Blanchard has cruised through class 4A so far this season including in the playoffs and will look to continue cruising against Bristow in the quarterfinals this Friday night. Class 3A [player_tooltip player_id="48668" first="Gavin" last="Freeman"] - Heritage Hall Switching to 3A, Gavin Hall had a monster night for the Chargers offense. He finished with 152 yards and 3 TDs receiving and added on 51 yards rushing as well. Heritage Hall was one of the favorites to win the title in 3A and they have backed up that billing. They will take on Verdigris this Friday in the quarterfinals. [player_tooltip player_id="38558" first="Cade" last="Stephenson"] - Kingfisher Perhaps the best performance of the week came from Kingfisher athlete [player_tooltip player_id="38558" first="Cade" last="Stephenson"]. The QB converted to RB ran for 212 yards and 3 TDs and completed his one pass attempt for 55 yards and a TD. Then as if that wasn’t enough, Stephenson had a handful of tackles on defense and caught 2 interceptions. Stephenson has really shined in his new role in the offense in 2020 and will look to keep rolling in their quarterfinal matchup with undefeated Holland Hall. Class 2A Casmen Hill - Chandler In their blowout win over Meeker, Hill had himself quite the game on the ground with 282 yards and 4 TDs on 22 carries. Chandler will face Marlow, the top seed in their region, this Friday night in their quarterfinal matchup. Chase Allison - Washington Again with another huge game on the ground, Washington’s Senior back Chase Allison finished his night with 238 yards rushing and 4 TDs on 15 carries. Washington has been one of the top teams in 2A all season and will have possibly their most difficult test this week against a loaded Jones offense. [player_tooltip player_id="38528" first="Elijah" last="Reed"] - Jones Speaking of Jones, they looked great in their win over Luther and had some big nights from a few guys including [player_tooltip player_id="38528" first="Elijah" last="Reed"]. Reed is a WR I have been preaching about all season because he has somehow been overlooked despite doing nothing but make plays week in and week out. Reed finished the game with 211 yards and 3 TDs rushing, showing his playmaking ability from anywhere in the offense, as well as 40 yards and 1 TD receiving. Jones will match up with Washington in what should be a very competitive quarterfinal. Kameron Estrada - Jones Jones had a great night offensively and also had some guys step up in a big way on defense. The Sophomore DL finished the night with 7 tackles, 5 TFLs, and 3 sacks. Estrada has been impressive for a Sophomore all season and will be a player we might have to rank come 2021. He will be needed in a big way once again this week as Jones takes on Washington. Class A Kash Lyle - Ringling Ringling looked as we expected in their 33-7 win over Oklahoma Bible and with that, their stars shined. Senior RB Kash Lyle in particular ran for 188 yards and 3 TDs in the win. Ringling is one of the favorites to go all the way in Class A but will have a tough matchup this week in the quarterfinals against Texhoma. [player_tooltip player_id="52273" first="Ben" last="Harman"] - Cashion Harman has been one of the best QBs in the state this season and he did not hold anything back against Elmore City-Pernell. Harman completed 19 passes on 23 attempts for a jaw-dropping 437 yards and 5 TDs. Cashion is also a top contender for the Gold Ball in Class A and will take on Hooker this Friday in their quarterfinal game.
