Amare Marshall, Cinnaminson: Marshall ran for 107 yards and two scores in Cinnaminson’s 36-0 shutout of Pemberton on Friday. The Pirates totaled 265 rushing yards overall in their third straight victory, and Marshall moved past 500 rushing yards on the season.
Danny Wersching, Hightstown: Hightstown scored 21 points in the fourth quarter en route to a 35-0 shutout of Cherry Hill East. Wersching went 13-for-17 for 150 yards, and he threw and ran for scores. Mark Tiganila powered his way to 135 yards on the ground on 15 carries with a score, and Isaiah Thornton would not be stopped on a 60-yard interception return for Hightstown.
Gavin Roman, Holy Spirit: In a pivotal game between top-15 teams, No. 8 Holy Spirit edged No. 11 St. Augustine, 12-7, after Roman hauled in the game-winning 41-yard TD throw from Trevor Cohen with 4:30 left. Holy Spirit relied on its defense to pull out the win down the stretch.
Patrick Smith Patrick Smith 5'11" | RB Holy Spirit | 2021 State NJ , Holy Spirit: Smith, a Colorado State commit, continued his stellar play this season with 173 rushing yards on 33 carries, scoring on a 39-yard run to open the game’s scoring in the second quarter.
Nasir Hill Nasir Hill 6'1" | DB St. Augustine | 2022 State NJ , St. Augustine: Hill made four receptions for 110 yards and caught a 67-yard TD in No. 11 St. Augustine’s loss to Holy Spirit.
Jason Blanks, Hoboken: Blanks threw a pair of touchdowns and returned a punt 41 yards in Hoboken’s 50-12 rout of Newark Central.
David DeLoatch, North Brunswick: DeLoatch hauled in a pair of TD throws from quarterback Frankie Garbolino in North Brunswick’s 14-7 victory over South Brunswick, improving to 6-0 on the season. DeLoatch had a monster receiving performance with six catches for 165 yards. He scored on a 34-yard TD and a 65-yard strike.
Leland Williams, Burlington Township: Williams had a 75-yard blocked kick returned for a touchdown to send Burlington Township to 6-0 after Friday’s 21-13 win over Delran in a battle of undefeated teams.
Jimmy Pepe/Justin Townsend, Randolph: Pepe and Townsend combined for three touchdowns and 331 rushing yards as Randolph improved to 5-0 behind an impressive 38-13 victory over previously unbeaten West Morris Central.
Trey Kaplan, Lenape Valley: Kaplan ran for 182 yards on 27 carries with scoring runs of 2, 19 and 40 yards in Lenape Valley’s 48-33 victory over Mountain Lakes, as the team improved to 5-1 and won its second straight.
Kente Edwards, North Hunterdon: Edwards had three interceptions and forced a fumble in North Hunterdon’s 35-6 victory over Voorhees in the annual rivalry game on Friday. Edwards, a sophomore, made timely plays at safety, and his three picks are believed to be a rivalry-game record. He was named Most Valuable Player in the Milk Can Game, the 45-year rivalry game between North Hunterdon and Voorhees. North Hunterdon now leads the series 32-12-1 and hasn’t lost since 2011.
Gabe Abel, Ewing: In a game that saw an astounding number of points and yards, Ewing slid by Allentown 62-56 on Friday. Abel was a big reason why, rushing for 350 yards on 18 carries, scoring five touchdowns. He found the end zone on runs of 34, 40, 50, 54 and 59 yards.
Mekhi Gibson, Ewing: Gibson ran for 97 yards on five carries, scoring on runs of 40 and 52 yards. He added a 44-yard TD catch and returned an interception return 57 yards for a score.
Dan Merkel, Allentown: Merkel finished 25-of-43 for 295 yards with three touchdowns. He was just as good on the ground, rushing for 147 yards on 27 carries with TD runs of 3, 4 and 6 yards.
Blake Creamer, Ramsey: Blake Creamer found his twin brother, Bryan Creamer, on an 8-yard touchdown in the late stages in Ramsey’s 34-27 victory over Verona. Ramsey improved to 5-0 on the season. Blake Creamer ran for 200 yards on 21 carries, scoring on a 14-yard run.
Frank Riggio Frank Riggio 5'8" | RB Verona | 2021 State NJ , Verona: Riggio ran for 199 yards on 34 carries, scoring on a pair of 1-yard runs in Verona’s loss to Ramsey.
Irvington Defense: The Irvington defense shut out Montclair, 37-0, on Friday. While Irvington made some explosive plays on offense, the defense set the tone. Mikai Gbayor Mikai Gbayor 6'2" | LB Irvington | 2021 State NJ had two sacks and 10 tackles and Calvin Gordon had an interception.
Jahdir Loftland, Donovan Catholic: Loftland ran for 183 yards on 13 carries with TD runs of 9, 22 and 52 yards in Donovan Catholic’s 35-0 shutout of Toms River North. Donovan Catholic improved to 6-0.
Luke Dugan/Kevin Farrell, Warren Hills: Dugan and Farrell combined for five passing TDs in Warren Hills’ 35-14 victory over Belvidere.
Mike Leanza Mike Leanza 5'8" | RB Bernards | 2022 NJ , Bernards: Leanza found the end zone twice as Bernards won its fifth straight and defeated Delaware Valley on the road by a 28-24 score on Friday night. Delaware Valley suffered its first loss of the year.
Casey Larkin Casey Larkin 6'0" | DB Wall | 2021 State NJ , Wall: Larkin ran 19 times for 127 yards and scored on a 30-yard run in Wall’s 31-10 victory over Middletown South.
Audric Estime Audric Estime 6'1" | RB St. Joe's Montvale | 2021 State NJ , St. Joseph (Mont.): Estime continued his case for best running back in the state with a 24-carry, 309-yard performance against Don Bosco Prep Friday night in St. Joseph’s 34-14 win. Estime could not be stopped all game, as he scored on runs of 23, 40 and 80 yards. He has rushed for 1,325 yards on 123 carries with 17 scores on the season.
