The 2020 Michigan high school football season was back in action throughout the weekend and the opening week of the playoffs was filled with impressive performances. Here are some of the top performers from across the state in the 2021 class.

Blanchard is an underrated recruit that deserves more hype than he has received so far. He carried the ball 32 times for 192 yards and two touchdowns in a 23-19 loss to Ann Arbor Huron. The senior running back has solid speed and shows the ability to consistently make tacklers miss. He holds offers from Heidelberg, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein, Hope and Olivet, but should continue to pick up more as the season comes to an end.

Tyus is one of the best running backs in the state and has enjoyed a very productive senior season. The Northwestern commit ran the ball 22 times for 278 yards and six touchdowns, but he also caught the ball twice for 95 yards and another score. Defensively, he intercepted two passes and returned one for a touchdown. He could play either side of the ball at the next level, but should become a great player at the next level no matter his position.

Whitehorn has been a workhorse for North Farmington and I’m surprised that he has been a bit underrecruited throughout this cycle. He carried the ball 31 times for 314 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-13 win over Waterford Kettering. The senior has great balance and vision and could make an impact early for a team on the college level. He holds offers from Lawrence Tech, Lake Erie and Davenport so far.
