A top-5 showdown took place in Jersey City on Saturday as top-ranked St. Peter’s Prep hosted No. 4 St. Joseph (Mont.). While St. Joseph hung around for much of the game, St. Peter’s Prep ultimately improved to 3-0 following a 33-20 victory. St. Peter’s Prep led 19-14 through three quarters, and it outscored St. Joseph 14-6 in the fourth quarter. It was the first win for the Marauders in the last four tries in this series. There were plenty of playmakers that had strong performances in the highly anticipated matchup. Let’s take a look at the winners from Saturday’s showdown.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28005" first="Paul" last="Lefkowitz"], St. Peter’s Prep:</strong> Lefkowitz rushed for 106 yards on 14 carries with a 9-yard touchdown run in the St. Peter’s Prep victory. He scored on a 9-yard run.
<strong>Samuel Slade, St. Peter’s Prep: </strong>Slade ran for 87 yards on 11 carries with a 15-yard TD run.
<strong>Jaylan Sanchez, St. Peter’s Prep:</strong> Sanchez finished with an interception and made three catches for 53 yards.
<strong>Ken Soares, St. Peter’s Prep: </strong>Soares had a 61-yard TD catch from St. Peter’s Prep quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="27881" first="Tahj" last="Bullock"], who threw and ran for scores on Saturday.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27865" first="Audric" last="Estime"], St. Joseph:</strong> Estime continued his stellar start to the season with 209 yards on the ground on 25 carries, with a 3-yard TD run. One of the top running backs in the state, Estime has been a nightmare matchup for any opponent thus far. He also had two catches for 32 yards and a 7-yard TD reception.
<strong>Blake Wypler, St. Joseph: </strong>Wypler hauled in a 41-yard TD pass from St. Joseph quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="27908" first="Dorian" last="Nowell"] in the first quarter.
