Haddon Heights stays perfect: Haddon Heights had its second shutout victory of the season on Saturday and improved to 4-0 following a 21-0 result over Woodbury. Zyaire Goffney-Fleming carried for 156 yards on 30 carries with touchdown runs of 3 and 5 yards. He also made a 23-yard TD pass from Ryan DiOrio.
No problems for No. 1 St. Peter’s Prep: Behind a steady performance, top-ranked St. Peter’s Prep improved to 4-0 and downed Paramus Catholic, 25-7, on the road on Saturday. Samuel Slade ran in two TDs for the top team in the state.
Union earns much-needed win: The Farmers snapped a two-game losing streak by shutting out St. Joseph of Metuchen, 25-0, on Saturday. Rutgers commit Desmond Igbinosun Desmond Igbinosun 6'3" | ATH Union | 2021 State NJ scored a touchdown and made an interception. Union handed St. Joseph its first loss of the season.
Clifton edges Montclair to stay undefeated: Jacob Maldonado ran for 76 yards, Caleb Boneparte found the end zone four times and Donovan Swasey and Omar Muheisen made interceptions as Clifton defeated Montclair, 28-23, on Saturday, improving to 4-0 on the year.
West Orange hands East Orange first loss: In this rivalry matchup, West Orange relied on its defense and defeated rival East Orange, 17-7, on Saturday afternoon. Shakhi Carson Shakhi Carson 5'9" | RB West Orange | 2021 State NJ ran for 113 yards and scored on a 4-yard run, and talented quarterback Mason Murdock connected with Makhi Green on a 26-yard TD strike in the victory. West Orange snapped a three-game losing streak to East Orange.
North Plainfield stays hot in rout: The Canucks are now 4-0 after a 53-7 win over Spotswood on Saturday. North Plainfield has struggled in recent years but now is on a mission. Behind a balanced attack and strong play on the defensive end, they took care of Spotswood right from the start.
Watchung Hills upsets No. 9 Phillipsburg: In arguably the biggest performance of Week 4, Watchung Hills improved to 3-0 and edged No. 9 and state public powerhouse Phillipsburg, 21-20, on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors got it done late with a successful onside kick, and Phillipsburg missed a 42-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds. Watchung Hills had to rally after going down by double digits. Behind quarterback Chad Martini and receiving weapons John Bechtle and Justin Drews, the Warriors did just that. Watchung Hills, two years after finishing 0-10, proved it could play with a top team in the state.
