Here at Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’re dedicated to bringing you the most in-depth and widespread coverage of Oklahoma high school football. Every week, we’ll have practice reports, featuring some of the best teams in the state as they prepare for a big game on Friday night. We’ll give a breakdown on how the team is doing, how some of the top stars are shining and who are some of their breakout performers. This report features Class A powerhouse Cashion as they prepare for a top five showdown with Thomas.
Last Week – Beat Minco 47-0
Cashion improved to 3-0 with a 47-0 drubbing of Minco last week. The Wildcats have been dominant to start the 2020 season. They opened up with a 47-14 win on the road against Rejoice Christian. They followed that up with a 49-14 win over Perry before last week’s shut out against Minco. “The defense has been playing really well,” Cashion head coach Lynn Shackelford said. “The offense has rolled but I’m very happy with the way the defense has played.” The Wildcats will get their toughest test coming up on Friday when they host Thomas. But more on that later on. Here’s a look at five standouts for Cashion so far this season.

has been simply his confidence and being comfortable in the offense. The Cashion coaches believe that Harman felt a lot of pressure as the only new starter on last year’s team. This year, he’s in control of the offense and is calm, cool and collected. It’s certainly showed in the stat line as well. He’s thrown for nearly 1,000 yards and ten touchdowns already this season. We’re excited to see his continued growth over the course of the season.

. Green has become the go-to weapon in this Cashion offense but it hasn’t been Harman making Green look good. Honestly, it’s been a lot of the opposite. Green has taken several simple 5-yard passes and turned them into 40 and 50 yard gains. Green has had that light bulb moment where he knows he’s one of the best athletes on the field and he’s certainly playing like it. He’s caught nine touchdowns already this year.

is the ultimate small school two-way star. He’s an absolute wrecking ball of a running back and a star as a linebacker. As far as the ability to play at the next level, we love Harrell’s game as a linebacker. He’s outstanding and one of the best small school backers in the state. Ask the coaches at Cashion where Harrell is most valuable and it depends on who you ask. Offensive coaches will say offense, defensive coaches will say without a doubt it’s the defensive side of the ball.
Jacob Farrow – Senior Linebacker
While Harrell is making an impact on both sides of the ball, senior linebacker Jacob Farrow is one of the most consistent players on this Cashion defense. Farrow is a force on the defensive side of the ball and always finds a way to make his impact felt by the opposing team. Farrow is a very excellent tackler and he’s at his best in space. He doesn’t get beat very often and he’s a big reason why this Cashion defense has been so successful. Not only are they not giving up points, the total defensive yardage numbers are impressive as well.

. The Wildcats have gotten a boost from the junior on both sides of the ball and it has certainly helped. Similar to Green, Manning has had those moments of realizing that he’s one of the better athletes on the field and he’s starting to trust that more and more. Manning is another player that has had a massive impact on both sides of the ball and it’s tough to tell which spot he’s most valuable. His commitment to the weight room this offseason has paid off big time.
This Week – VS #4 Thomas
Cashion will host Thomas in a Class A top four showdown. The #4 Terriers will visit #2 Cashion on Friday night and both teams have state championship aspirations this year. Cashion has been simply dominant to start their season but this will be arguably their toughest test before the playoffs begin in November. The same is said for Thomas. Both teams will likely cruise in district play so this could be the last big test before the playoffs roll around. This game will be huge in the Class A big picture. A big storyline to follow will be the play on the field. Cashion has played three straight weeks. Thomas has only played one full game and had last week off after playing week one. That could play a factor on Friday night when these two square off.
