Ty Robinson to stay home, play for Colorado Buffaloes
The top wide receiver prospect in Colorado joins a suddenly growing list of local players to commit to stay at home at the next level.
Ty Robinson Ty Robinson 6'3" | WR Eaglecrest | 2021 State CO , the No. 1 wide receiver prospect ranked by Prep Redzone Colorado from Eaglecrest, announced on Monday, Aug. 24, that he would play at the University of Colorado at the next level. Robinson had multiple offers from FBS and FCS level schools to choose, including multiple offers from other Pac-12 programs. He even shared some offers to play basketball at the next level as well.
In the end, Robinson chose football and chose the Colorado Buffaloes. It was a special moment for him to make his plans, and he talked about growing up and falling in love with football because of his father and his dad’s side of the family, and about the strength of his mother growing up, when making his commitment.

By committing to Colorado, Robinson becomes the third player from the state to commit to the Buffs, joining Heritage tight end Erik Olson and Cherry Creek wide receiver Chase Penry Chase Penry 6'1" | WR Cherry Creek | 2021 State CO . He also becomes the 14th player to commit to the Buffaloes, according to 247Sports.com.
Robinson is a two-year starter for Eaglecrest and has seen time on the field on both sides of the ball. He played both offense and defense, compiling 22 receptions for 401 yards and four touchdowns while recording 30 tackles and 14 pass breakups on defense. His role grew more on offense in 2019, where he flourished to record 56 receptions for 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns while still making some plays in the secondary with 21 tackles and three interceptions.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 190 pounds, Robinson has built a solid frame and is a solid outside receiver in shotgun sets on the film. He possesses good speed to go up the field, but it’s his ball instincts that allow him to adjust and win jump battles to bring in catches at the top of his routes. He looks the ball into his hands and is sure-handed when he gets both hands on the ball. As for after the catch, he shows a good ability to run from defenders and make them miss in open space.
Colorado still is expected to look at other in-state recruits to join the Class of 2021, but they now have three quality receiving prospects within the state who are set to join them next fall.
