We’ll have updates, highlights, interviews and more. Part of that “more” are scouting reports. We’ll have breakdowns on some of the top performers that we saw in person. Some of those players will already be established prospects. Others might be under the radar and ready to emerge. Every weekend, check out our scouting reports to see who stepped up in a big way on Friday night, or in this case, Saturday afternoon!
BROKEN ARROW DEFEATS BENTONVILLE WEST, AR. 50-23
For the second time in the last four years, Broken Arrow was able to open their season in front of a nationally televised audience. ESPN was in town and the Tigers beat up on Bentonville West 50-23 to get their season off to a great start. The Tigers looked great early on. They did whatever they wanted on offense and the defense was forcing Bentonville West’s offense off the field. At one point in the second quarter, Broken Arrow led 29-7. However, the Wolverines would make things interesting. Early in the third quarter, they would score to make it 29-23. However, that was it from the visitors from Arkansas. The Tigers would put up three more touchdowns to put the Wolverines away. Several individuals shined on both sides of the ball for the Tigers in the victory. You can check out their breakdowns below. that delivered the “death blow” to Bentonville West. The junior linebacker backed up in pass coverage and came up with an interception and raced into the end zone for Broken Arrow’s final touchdown of the afternoon. Mack is one half of a dangerous linebacker group at Broken Arrow. The future is certainly bright for the junior backer. He has good size and was a very important part to the Tigers racing all over the field. While the defense wasn’t perfect, they did show flashes of a defense that can completely shut an opponent down. For a first game out, against a Bentonville West team that wanted to move fast offensively, Mack and the defense passed the test.
Corey Williams – 2021 – Defensive Back
As far as overall MVP, you can make the argument that Corey Williams would get that title. He’s certainly the frontrunner for defensive MVP from Saturday’s win over the visiting Wolverines. Williams had an interception and also blocked a PAT. He had a major impact on the defensive side of the ball and in special teams. Williams will certainly be a name to watch this fall when it comes to the 2021 class for defensive backs. He has good size and had a great game against a strong offense from Bentonville West. Some of the other players on this list came into Saturday’s game as more established recruits. However, when it comes to Williams, his stock is going up in a hurry and he’s quickly become a name college coaches need to know.

. Along with Mack, Moss is a freight train of a linebacker prospect. He’s one of the best 2021 prospects that is still available and hasn’t announced a commitment. He has interest from D1 programs and that should only pick up with a strong senior season. Moss has all the physical attributes that you want in a hard-hitting and fast linebacker. Going into Saturday’s game, we knew that Moss would be impressive as a physical beast. What we wanted to see was the growth he’s had as a leader of this Broken Arrow defense. And it showed on the field and on the sideline with his teammates. Moss and the BA defense had a terrific showing on Saturday.
Jake Raines – 2021 – Quarterback
While Corey Williams might have been the breakout player in Saturday’s victory, quarterback Jake Raines was the best surprise. The second-year starter at quarterback has made a big jump from what we saw from him last year as a junior. Raines is a confident leader and very vocal with his teammates. He’s also more confident in himself as a passer. He made some throws that you have to make to become a legitimate college quarterback prospect. The best thing about Raines’ performance on Saturday was his poise. He didn’t make any mistakes. If he was pressured, he would scramble and avoid a big loss. He never put the ball in dangerous spots. If Raines continues to play like this throughout the 2020 season, he’ll be a steal for a college that takes a chance on him.

. The Tiger standout has had a lot of hype around him off the field. It began in between his freshman and sophomore seasons, when he was projected as one of the top 2022 prospects, not only in Oklahoma, but in the country. As a sophomore, Horn was banged up and also spent the majority of his time on the defensive side of the ball. In Saturday’s opener, he showed what he can do on offense. He only carried the ball 13 times but he got loose on a few of them and was off to the races. He finished with nearly 200 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns. Horn certainly showed why he should be considered one of the top juniors in Oklahoma.
RJ Spears-Jennings – 2022 – Wide Receiver
When it came to Saturday’s match-up, the player we were most excited to see was junior wide receiver RJ Spears-Jennings. He’s a wide receiver prospect to circle in Oklahoma’s 2022 class. When we put on his tape from 2019, he was making big play after big play, but at the JV level. We wanted to see what impact he would have playing on a bigger stage. He was impressive on Saturday, in front of a nationally-televised audience. Jennings gives Broken Arrow a home run threat down the field in the passing game. However, on Saturday, he did most of his damage on shorter pass routes. While he didn’t have any home run plays on Saturday, he showcased that skill-set. It should be a big 2020 for Spears-Jennings.

. And on Saturday, we saw Banks pick up where he left off last season. Banks is a power runner that does his damage in between the tackles. And what’s going to be scary for Broken Arrow’s opponents in 2020 is the firepower of this BA backfield. The combination of Horn and Banks in the backfield give Broken Arrow a type of “thunder and lightning” feel. While Horn can be gone in the blink of an eye, Banks will absolutely rumble over you. But don’t mistake that description as a limitation. Banks can get into the open field and when he does, he’s going to be tough to stop. He has shown that he can make plenty of big plays himself.
