We continue our countdown of the state’s top players with the players ranked 61 to 65. A few of these guys are making pushes to crack the top 50 in our next rankings update and all of them currently hold Power Five offers.
65. [player_tooltip player_id="28497" first="Chase" last="Hattley"], 6’3 205, DB, Panther Creek
Hattley is one of the best in the state at reading and diagnosing plays from his safety position. He makes quick decisions and commits, leading to big plays against both the run and pass. His athleticism and size allow him to cover guys at every offensive position and gives him some unique positional versatility. Hattley holds offers from all over the country, but he’s Power Five caliber, no doubt.
64. [player_tooltip player_id="28496" first="Tyrin" last="Taylor"], 6’1 180, DB, Hough
Taylor is a strong corner with excellent technique and good speed for his size. Hough uses him all over the field in their versatile defensive scheme because he can match up well against most opposing players in the pass game and plays the run well. Taylor is a Colorado commit and we’re excited to see what he can do at the next level, especially with his versatility.
63. [player_tooltip player_id="28495" first="Zeek" last="Biggers"], 6’5 320, DL/OL, West Rowan
Biggers is a huge lineman that can move. We have him listed first as an offensive lineman, but most of the teams recruiting him like his quickness on the defensive side of the ball. Biggers is still growing into his body and learning to play with his size, so some people see him as a project. That being said, the Georgia Tech commit has the best upside among all the defensive tackles in the state.
62. [player_tooltip player_id="28494" first="Matthew" last="Dennis"], 5’10 165, K, Myers Park
Our top-rated specialist in the 2021 class, Dennis is a future Power Five kicker and is committed to Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons prize accuracy, and Dennis is one of the best, going a perfect 5-for-5 last year. Like most top kicking prospects, Dennis kicks off the ground like he’s required to do in college. For powerhouse Myers Park, it helps having such a sure-footed prospect at kicker.
61. [player_tooltip player_id="28493" first="Derek" last="Spearman"], 6’3 190, Ath., Hough
The fifth Hough defender to make our list so far, Spearman committed to Princeton over several bigger schools, including a few Power Five offers. Spearman played mostly corner last season, but we see him developing into an in-box safety or even linebacker at the college level. He possesses good speed and great awareness, two traits that should serve him well in the future.
