Zach Jorgensen is a 6’4″, 170 pound QB from Fairmont. He got the nod from Coach Mat Mahoney to start under-center for the Cardinals as a Sophomore and helped lead the team to a 8-2 record, one game short of a State trip. Fairmont has always has the spread offense and has also had lots of speed, Jorgensen really fitted the mold with his skill-set. He showed he can scramble, keep his eyes downfield and ultimately, make a good throw to his speedy receivers. Even though, most the time, his receivers were able to get open, he could still make plays with his feet on the occasion they were covered. I was able to catch up with Zach and ask him about his future with the Cardinals and his recruiting. Check it out below!
Jorgensen- Greg AbleNFN: Hello Zach, tell us a little about yourself and when you began playing football.
Jorgensen: I’ve played football ever since flag football when I was very young. I started playing tackle football in 4th or 5th grade and have played QB ever since.
NFN: What do you love about the game?
Jorgensen: The game has always been fun to play, being around the boys and just being active is what I love most!
NFN: What were you expectations for this season?
Jorgensen: Our expectations were to make it back to State, my expectations were to start and help the team win anyway I could.
NFN: How was your 2019 season as a team and personally?
Jorgensen: I was second on the team in scoring, second in rushing yards and finished with around 1,500 passing yards. We finished 8-2 falling to Jackson in the Section Title game.
NFN: How has your recruiting been? What are you looking for in a college program?
Jorgensen: I have upload my highlights to Twitter and I’m making a recruiting profile to send out to colleges. I have not been in contact with any schools yet. I don’t really know what I want in a college yet.
