Expert Analysis
CJ DeGennaro | Prep Redzone Scout
After reviewing Xzavier’s spring football film, he profiles as a stock-rising interior defensive lineman whose athletic coordination and technical development stand out in the trenches. Xzavier shows solid quickness off the ball and an impressive first-step get-off, allowing him to gain early leverage against interior blockers.
His hand usage is a clear strength, as he consistently works to disengage from blocks while keeping his eyes on the football. Xzavier demonstrates good awareness of the ball carrier’s movement, enabling him to read, react, and close space efficiently. This combination of technique and processing speed allows him to make disruptive plays rather than simply occupy space.
With continued consistency, Xzavier shows he can handle the physical demands of interior line play. He competes through contact, holds his ground in the trenches, and flashes the ability to impact both run fits and interior pressure. His spring film suggests a defensive tackle trending upward as his technique and effort level continue to align.
Projection: Interior defensive lineman with disruptive upside

: He started varsity as an 8th grader. He has a huge ceiling and the potential to grow in height. He is being graded and ranked from viewing his spring football (The League) film. He is an athletically coordinated defensive tackle with a solid get-off that flashes obvious quickness. I like how he uses his hands to stand up and take on blocks while he reads and reacts quickly to the ball carrier. He is a prospect we have graded for Div 1 college-level projection. He is no stranger to getting gritty in the trenches with consistent efforts each rep.

I’m just going to go ahead and call Chafin my co-MVP at the defensive line position group, because he was absolutely spectacular. The Massachusetts native was a varsity starter this year at Buckingham Browne & Nichols as an eighth-grader and picked up an offer from the University of Massachusetts Minutemen in the process. Attending his third Prep Redzone Next Middle School Camp in New Jersey, he took part in every combine test and also shined on the field. At 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds with long arms, he can play defensive end or defensive tackle at a very high level. His testing numbers were a cut above in nearly every drill, too. His performance was highlighted by a position-group best 7.47 in the shuttle and 7’10” in the broad jump. For good measure, he also finished tied for second with a 4.47 in the shuttle. It was nothing short of a banner day for

What we know: He is just a rising 8th grader. His pre-season efforts have earned him a starting role on his high school varsity team. He already stands 6’2″ 235 lbs, and has one wondering where his measurables will be by the end of his varsity career. One thing that can be said is he is a gifted athlete that is far ahead of his time as it pertains to growth and development. The film below says alot about his athletic potential. TWITTER
