Carmack probably should have made our receiver list, but we’d listed him as a tight end in the system a while ago, and never changed it as he grew taller. He’s a matchup nightmare at receiver because of his blend of size, speed, and agility, and that’s even more apparent when Dudley trots him out there at safety or corner. He’s a rare athlete with huge ability and potential.

Vermont Carmack Vermont Carmack 6'4" | 175 lbs | WR/ATH Dudley | 2027 State NC (WR, c/o 2027, Dudley HS) was his usual dominant self throughout the tournament, consistently making his presence felt in the passing game. A big-bodied target, Carmack thrives working down the middle of the field, using his size and strength to create mismatches. He came down with multiple highlight jump-ball catches, showcasing his strong hands and excellent leaping ability. When the ball is in the air, he’s a problem—physical at the catch point and reliable in traffic, making him one of the toughest covers all weekend.

Vermont Carmack Vermont Carmack 6'4" | 175 lbs | WR/ATH Dudley | 2027 State NC , a 2027 wide receiver from Dudley, has seen his recruitment take off during his junior year, and it’s easy to understand why. At 6’4″, Carmack brings rare size to the position but moves with the fluidity and route-running ability of a much smaller receiver. His ability to separate in routes, explode out of breaks, and elevate for contested catches makes him one of the most intriguing offensive prospects at the event.
Despite scoring seven touchdowns last season, it’s clear that Carmack’s upside is still scratching the surface. A two-sport athlete with elite explosiveness and leaping ability, he has already drawn attention from college programs across the country. Entering the tournament, Carmack is the highest-rated junior participating, ranked #13 overall in North Carolina and the #2 WR/TE in the state according to Prep Redzone NC. His blend of size, athleticism, and developing skill makes him a must-watch prospect this weekend.

Carmack is listed as a receiver on some sites, and it’s true that several schools are recruiting him as such. We like him as a tight end, assuming he puts on a bit more weight. He excels at getting vertical and using his long frame to high point the football. There’s some technical development that will need to happen before he lights up college defenses, but the physical profile is elite.

Carmack is getting plenty of Power Four looks as a big receiver, but he could grow into an in-line receiving tight end. He’s as hot as anyone on the recruiting trail, earning multiple SEC offers in the last month. I’m interested to see how his body develops, but I love his athleticism and think he could have a bigger year from a statistics standpoint as a junior.

Carmack is a wide receiver/tight end tweener who has blown up on the recruiting trail in recent weeks, earning dozens of FBS offers. The production hasn’t come yet, but he’s young and he should have plenty of opportunities in the fall. He’s made some noise on the 7-on-7 circuit this spring with his incredible leaping ability and strong hands, and he should continue to turn heads throughout his high school career.

Vermont is an interesting case study for physical talent and athletic ability from a storied program known for producing really good players. For the season, Vermont only had one catch, but when you see the athletic ability on so many clips on his profile doing 7 on 7 and other sports, colleges see enough to bet on your upside, and Vermont has a TON of that. Vermont is long and fast, and has a bright future on either offense or defense – offensively he fits best as a receiver, and defensively as a free safety he looks to be a natural. Vermont so far has offers from Campbell, Troy, Jackson State, Georgia State, Western Michigan, Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, South Florida, and Howard.
