About Tyrell
Expert Analysis
Mike Bey | Prep Redzone Scout
Tyrell played great as a Junior in 2024. His very good play helped the Benedictine Bengals to a 10-win season where they held opposing offenses to 13.6 points per game and advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs. He lines up at DE. Against the pass, he fires off the ball and gets under the pads of the OT before disengaging. He shows good quickness in pursuit and forces the QB to pass the ball earlier than anticipated leading to an incompletion. Against the run, he shows very good football intelligence as he keys and diagnoses the play. He takes good angles in pursuit before making the tackle near the LOS.

At 6’4 235 pounds O’Neal is already a physically imposing player. He plays tight end on offense and both end and tackle on defense. I project Tyrell to the defensive side of the ball as he continues to grow and develop. I think he could grow into a tremendous interior pass rusher. He played JV as a freshman and physically dominated. He’s very strong at the point of attack. On offense as a blocker once he engages the defender he plays with heavy hands and drives his man backwards, many times to the ground. I lost count of the pancake blocks. He dominates on the defensive side of the ball as well. He uses his strength to walk linemen back into the backfield and then he’s active with his hands and can bat balls down with his length. With his combo of size, strength, and athleticism, if he can start to work on his pass rush technique and moves, I think he could be very, very good.
