A young man out of Patriot HS (Nokesville, VA), one who is dead-set on proving himself to college coaches. Crisp mechanics, film to back up what is witnessed at camp, I’m surprised a local D3 hasn’t pulled the trigger on Tyler Knutson Tyler Knutson 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Patriot | 2025 State VA yet. Recruiting the QB position can be cut-throat and unfair. This being said, Knutson has come to two consecutive camps that I’ve been a part of within a years time, earning Top Performer honors each time. Size that stands out in a crowd. Throws a ball that flies out of his hand in a hurry. Pays a good deal of attention to detail from coaches. Always willing to be first in line, a camp example-setter. Carries himself like a senior, is coachable. Arguably the most accurate and on-time passer at this event, this while throwing to names he doesn’t have chemistry with. Someone is going to get a steal here.

Tyler will be attending his second PRZ combine as he previously attended our PRZPA Combine last May and was named a top 5 QB performer. In what has been known as a run-first offense in recent years, Tyler was the top passer in Prince William County completing 128 of 221, 2,295 yards, and 28 TDs, averaging 17.93 yards per completion. I expect Tyler to once again be one of our top passers at the showcase even amongst a good QB group attending.

It has to be mentioned Tyler Knutson Tyler Knutson 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Patriot | 2025 State VA is tearing up the entire Cedar Run district. His stat line thru 8 games reads 21 touchdowns and (checks notes) 0 interceptions! Facing a dangerous Osbourn squad Knutson was flawless once again and lead the Pioneers to an easy win. The matchup with cross town rival Battlefield is looming, but Knutson has shown he can play at the FCS level or higher.

Another game and another game ball worthy performance for Patriot’s rising star quarterback Tyler Knutson Tyler Knutson 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Patriot | 2025 State VA . The senior threw for four touchdowns in the Pioneers victory over Unity Reed and he looks prime for some offers here soon. We have talked about Knutson’s game before and he has continued on a positive traction with his play. Knutson is 6’4 and has many FCS schools very interested, it will only take 1 institution to offer him and they will not regret it.

Last week in Patriot’s impressive victory over Westfield Villanova commit Jackson McCarter did a lot of the heavy lifting but Knutson performed well also. A top ranked qb Knutson should get some FCS opportunities soon, he is 6’4 and can move in the pocket. His continued development will be interesting to watch with the Pioneers all season long.

A true pocket passer, Tyler will be leading Patriot’s offense once again this fall. He is no stranger to us at Prep Redzone, and was recently featured by our Maryland Scout Todd Haldis from a camp this summer that you can read here. Tyler is a player I have seen a few times this spring and has always impressed, and he definitely showed out during the NP Showcase. Measuring in at 6’3″ 196 with 74 1/2″ wingspan, he has nice size and a frame to fill out well and continue to get stronger. Tyler has a real smooth release, good mechanics and throws a pretty ball as it’s coming out his hand. He shows great timing, anticipation and accuracy on his throws. I don’t think he had a single throw off target during 1v1s, he puts it on the WRs hands in stride. Tyler also showed off his strong arm during the camp. Throws a real nice deep ball, getting the ball out quickly and getting it out there with a nice arc allowing the receiver to run under it. With his skillset and having a 3.8 GPA, Tyler is a FCS level QB in my mind and should have more than one D2 offer at this stage. Look for him to have another big season senior year and having many more colleges interested in his services.
