Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Herman measures in at 6’2 170-pounds playing DB for Vista Ridge. Great size for a DB. Last season, he had 19 total tackles (15 solo, 4 assisted), 1 TFL, with 4 PD. Herman has good athletic ability due to very good balance, speed, acceleration, good jumping, and change of direction. Herman does a good job jamming the receiver at the line of scrimmage. Smooth controlled back pedal with great hip fluidity to match receivers. He’ll use his speed to stay stride for stride not giving up much room. Very good man coverage with good zone coverage. Herman displays very good closing quickness and timing to create pass break ups. Strong tackler as well and isn’t afraid to get physical. Add him to your list of players to watch for next season.

Herman may possess the highest long term ceiling among this group. While his stat line of 19 tackles and one tackle for loss does not immediately jump off the page, his performance at the Prep Redzone Colorado showcase turned heads. Herman has a quick burst, displays good hips being able to open up and runs stride for stride with receivers downfield. He breaks with speed on the football and can go up and compete at the high point. With added strength and a full offseason of development, Herman is positioned to take a significant step forward. A breakout junior campaign could quickly transform potential into proven production.

Herman had a great day earning MVP honors from the coaches. He has very good agility and balance and it showed throughout the drills. During the ladder tennis ball drill, he demonstrated very good body control and footwork while showing his good catching skills. During the 7 on 7 portion, he showed off his smooth and controlled back pedal. Fluid hips to match the wide receiver as the wideout broke off their stem. Very good man and zone coverage. Very good closing quickness. Herman has good size, and impressed the coaches with his coachability and tenacity! I’m excited to see how Herman continues his development !
