The new Clemson Tigers commit quarterback Trace Hawkins is looking to have a major season this fall. Hawkins is looking to add another state championship to his resume as he already has one as a starting signal caller as a freshman. Hawkins is someone I have covered since his middle school days and seeing all of his success is something I could see coming down the line and quickly. Currently ranked as the No. 1 QB prospect in the state for the 2028 class, Hawkins is an easy Power Four talent and added a new major SEC offer this week from the LSU Tigers. The impressive North Georgia passer at Calhoun led the Yellow Jackets to a really strong 2025 season as a sophomore, throwing for just under 2,500 yards and 24 touchdowns with just three INTs. He’s poised, talented, and has the potential to have a dominant junior season in 2026. Look for more big offers to come his way over time.

He has had so far, a tremendous high school career in his first two seasons and I believe his game elevates this season in 2026. He has the arm talent and the skillset along with a big IQ of the game. He’s someone who really has that ability to take his team where he wants them to go and this year, I believe he does just that. This is because he is a leader at a very young age, and the game comes to him easily, as he is someone who has been able to lead his team all the way in the past. They will be tasked with attempting this again, and it is very possible, as their first-round matchup will tell you everything you need to know about Hawkins. Hawkins and the Calhoun squad will be against Lumpkin County. Calhoun has the chance to be one of the better teams in the state when it is all said and done, and a lot of thanks would be given to their star QB.
