at the linebacker position. Gilchrist came into this season as the team’s leading tackler from last year’s state championship team. And coming into Saturday’s championship game, Gilchrist is once again in the lead on the team in tackles. He’s the third and final defensive standout to have over 100 tackles. After finishing last season with over 100 tackles, Gilchrist did it again this season and he has a good chance to finish his senior season with at least 150 tackles. Gilchrist will be a big name to watch on defense.

is the leading tackler returning from last season’s state championship team. The senior would rack up well over 100 tackles last season as Fairview made their run to the gold ball. And with the Yellowjackets returning the majority of their starters on defense, Gilchrist should be the leader of a relatively experienced group as they look to defend their crown. As explosive as the offense was last season, the defense was just as dominant and was a big reason why Fairview was never tested until the playoffs. Gilchrist will head into this fall looking to keep Fairview at the top of the list in terms of Class A defensive units.
